a few weeks have gone by and cody and i are doing better than ever.

never in a million years did i think i'd ever get so lucky. even months ago, i would've never guessed that i'd get to report for the Times, especially for sports. following corey around has been the biggest blessing.

so much has happened since our first interview. i've made friends that will last a life time, and i met cody.

cody has been nothing but perfect. i knew he was amazing, but man, he's amazing. life is absolutely perfect right now. nothing can change that.

i haven't exactly had the chance to talk to work about this relationship yet. i'm not entirely sure how well they'll take it.

i make my way into the building, my anxiety spikes as i'm greeted by one of my co-workers.

"sadie, the boss wants to see you in her office." she says. my heart skips a beat. "like now sadie." she repeats. i come back to earth and make my way towards my editor in chief's office.

i knock on the door.  "come in!" she shouts through the door.

"hey sadie!" kelley says happily. good sign?

"hey kelley! megan told me you needed to see me." i say calmly.

"yes, i wanted to talk to you about your work with the dodgers organization and corey seager." she says, taking a few sheets of paper out of a manila folder.

i take a deep breath and say, "is there a problem?"

she looks up enthusiastically, "oh no! you're actually doing really great." she smiles, "don't tell anyone i said that, then they'll all want a compliment." i work up a chuckle through my nerves.

"i actually wanted to let you know that, they've offered you a job. usually they'd ask you directly but since you're still following corey's season and thats a story for the Times they wanted to contact me before they mentioned it to you."

oh my god. my jaw practically fell to the ground. this is insane.

"you're joking." i blurt grabbing the papers off kelley's desk.

"i don't joke much. especially about things like these." she chuckles. "sadie, having you here at the Times has been amazing. you're incredibly talented and absolutely amazing at what you do. normally no one, especially an editor, would build you up like this but i'm saying this as a friend. we've worked together for three years and you've grown tremendously. i really think this would be a great opportunity for you. it's what you've been working towards your entire career." i smile at her.

kelley has been such an amazing friend and boss. we may not have the closest relationship but we're always looking out for each other and doing our best to maintain a healthy work relationship and friendship. her giving me a chance to safely and confidently leave the Times is something i truly appreciate.

"this is so crazy. do you really think i can do this?" i ask.

she looks at me like i'm crazy for even doubting it. "sadie. do you think you can?"

i sigh, of course i can. this is the biggest and best opportunity i've ever gotten. i have to do this. this is what makes me happy. writing, reporting, and watching how this sport evolves.

"i can. i can do this." i tell her firmly.

"so call them! just keep me updated."

"of course. of course. thank you so much kelley. this means the world." i tell her as she gets out of her seat to hug me.
