I had boarded the plane and checked my phone. I had gotten a new message from him. He was going to meet me once I got to the airport in LA. His name was Daniel Kutch. He was my friend I had met a few years earlier when I visited my aunt and uncle out in Santa Monica for the summer. He came back to Pennsylvania with me when his parents had gotten in a terrible accident. He stayed with us for about three years until he was able to move back to California. Now, he's repaying me by letting me come out and stay in his house with him and his buddies so I can attend college out there. I literally cannot contain my excitement!
About a forty-five minutes into the flight had gone by and I was still freaking out. I had never flown in an airplane by myself before. Actually, I had never even flown in an airplane to begin with. I just held my phone tightly and took deep breaths as I waited for the turbulence to end. Once it had, I stood up to find the bathroom.
Once I reached it, I stood at the sink and peered at myself in the tiny mirror. My crazy bun had sunk down onto my head and my glasses had finger prints on them.
"You're a mess" I said to myself.
I grabbed my small bag and did my makeup in the tiny bathroom. Once I put in my contacts, I applied my mascara with the softest of touches to make sure I didn't get any on my eyeliner.
Once I was done, I smiled at my reflection staring back at me and felt a little more satisfied then usual.
"There... Now you don't look like a demon that just crawled out of the depths of hell."
I laughed at myself and walked out of the bathroom and back to my assigned seat. Only a few more hours to go, then you'll be with him. I smiled and closed my eyes.
I woke up as the plane was landing in LAX.
Waiting to get my luggage, I saw couples hugging and kissing, people crying, children laughing, and then I saw him.
Him and his dorky little smirk smiling back at me. I dropped my suitcases and ran towards him. His arms surrounded me into a warm embrace.
"I've missed you..." was all I could get out as his hug kept getting tighter and tighter with more and more emotion.
When he finally let go, I looked up to see his blond curls dangling in his face.
"I bet I've missed you more..." his deep voice echoed in my ears as if I hadn't heard it for a million years.
I let out a deep breath and we walked out of the busy airport hand in hand.
We reached his truck and he opened my door for me. I couldn't help but grin.
As he loaded my suitcases into the bed of the truck, my phone buzzed. It was from my ex, Derek. He's an irrational man-whore who doesn't care about anyone but himself.
As Daniel got into the driver's seat, I turned my phone off without looking at the message.
He looked at me as if I was a painting with a secret code. He scanned my body until his eyes met mine once again.
"We ready to go?" I asked with a cheesy smile spreading across my face.
"If you are I am." He responded as he rattled the old Ford to life.
The ride to his house was silent, yet full of questions. His hand rested on my left thigh the entire ride.
We approached a beautiful house overlooking the ocean. It was absolutely breathtaking.
I slowly slid out of the passenger seat and walked towards the balcony.
"Woah..." I said my eyes growing big and curious.
"I know, right?" He said leaning on the gate with his arms crossed.
I noticed his blue eyes sparkle as he looked out across the vast blue view.
He grabbed my hand by surprise and picked me up bridal style and we walked through the big front door.
I laughed and he set me down in front of his four roommates.
That's when I saw them. All of them. Including Derek.
