When Gods Descend

All of Anteiku was now waiting above Aogiri Tree's base in the thirteenth ward. Hinami was with us for some reason. The ghouls were wearing Aogiri uniforms, mask and all. Iris, Camellia and I were disguised as a group of investigators we had consumed the day before. I was Shinami something or other. Apparently she was good but didn't follow the rules, so she was stuck at second class... whatever that means, the other two had their cover stories all set.

Iris: Right, remember, we're human. Nothing fancy

Y/n: Who put you in charge?

Camellia: I think we did...

I cursed myself and went to join the main force. There we found what must've been hundreds if not thousands of investigators. Soon enough the assault began and we were deployed to the second wave. Once we have breached, we go in.

The breach didn't take long. Some... I want to say girl? took out the entrenched forces before giving us the all clear to enter. We were among the last in. This allowed us to split off undetected towards were we believed Kaneki was being held.

Iris: Once we get there, we take out whoever is guarding him, go home, unpack all the new decorations I ordered and then relax for a bit

Y/n: I thought you drained Jessica's card dry last time!

Iris: I'm on Joeshephs card

I was pretty annoyed at that. We kept going, the few ghouls we came across were quickly dispatched with relative ease. We came to a large room, in which about twenty ghouls stood guarding a door which was being broken down by the CCG below us. We were standing on a catwalk, doorways opposite to us and to our left. Iris was about to jump down and kill them but I grabbed the back of the armour she was wearing. Camellia was already walking across the catwalk to the door on our left

Y/n: Live and let live. We don't need to kill them

Iris: Really? We're leaving them?

Camellia: The CCG will kill them soon enough. Us going down their is pointless

Iris gave up and walked to join Camellia. Before I left, I looked down at the ghouls, from the looks of it they'd be slaughtered almost instantly. Camellia broke down the door and waved me over. I ran to meet them and soon enough we were running towards a large dome with a tiled floor. In the middle sat Kaneki, tied to a chair with hair as white as snow. Jason walked in, his mask upon his face rambling about something.

Y/n: Iris, wait. I do believe this to be a learning experience for our young friend

She looked at me quizzically again, but this time, not out of disbelief but rather looked at me like an amusing game

Camellia: He's up

I looked back down there, arms crossed. Kaneki by this point had his leg grabbed but broke it to kick Jason round the head

Camellia: He's got some guts now

Iris: He is... intriguing 

I stood silent and continued watching. Soon enough, Kaneki had Jason pinned to the ground

Iris: I'll go find Touka. You two make sure the kid isn't insane

I nodded as Camellia jumped down and Iris ran back the way we came. Camellia ran up to Jason and smiled at him before saying hello to Kaneki. I followed shortly after. Kaneki was torturing Jason. That's the only word I could use for it. Ten bucks to who can guess my first words to him. I won't give you the money

Y/n: You still sane up there Kaneki?

Kaneki: one thousand... minus seven

Camellia: He's all there. Just getting revenge

I nodded and crouched down in front of Jason. putting my hand up to Kaneki. I needed him to answer me something

Y/n: Say... Yamori is it? Where is James Heller?

Jason: Heller? He's watching everything

I looked to Camellia who was scanning around us. She shook her head

Y/n: Liar. Go on Kaneki. Touka is waiting for you once you're done

I left the building, heading towards our meet-up point just by the forest surrounding the building. Camellia soon joined me, saying Kaneki was with Touka now, fighting her brother. We had that talk we wanted. I'll spare the details of it but I ended up getting kissed in front of everyone. Touka was hurt, both physically by her brother and mentally by that sight, but everyone was alright.

Kaneki: I'm going to join Aogiri Tree

Touka: What?

Kaneki: Please, let me do this 

I leaned to Camellia and whispered in her ear

 Y/n: Keep tabs on him for me

She nodded. Touka hardly got another word in before Kaneki was walking off. I placed a hand in her shoulder as she began crying

Y/n: Trust me with this. He's going to where he feels he's needed. He may be wrong but it's best for him to make his own mistakes. Let's get you back home

I picked her up and ran to her house, got her key's out of her pocket and set her down on the sofa. She brought her knees to her head and wrapped her arms around them. I was looking around her apartment for a first aid kit. She was hurt after all. I found one and sat next to her

Y/n: Come on, you know the drill

She placed her feet on the floor and took off her shirt without saying a word. It wasn't as bad as last time, but it was still needed. I began my work and part way through... she finally spoke

Touka: Do you remember... when you said I liked him?

Y/n: I remember everything

Touka: You were right... 

Y/n: Past tense?

Touka: I don't know if I want to love him anymore 

I chuckled

Y/n: Love is never a question of what you want. If I had a choice in who I loved, I'd of chosen myself 

Touka: So... I should just... love him anyway?

Y/n: Don't have a choice.

Touka: Can I ask you another question... this time actually answer it

I continued my work but tilted my head slightly

Touka: How many families have you torn apart?

Y/n: If you're asking how many people I've killed... eight million, seven hundred and sixty three thousand, four hundred and twenty eight.

Touka: E-eight million?

Y/n: Mostly in China. The Hong Kong protests and how China treated them pissed me off

Touka: Then... what happened in manchester?

I sighed deeply at that

Y/n: Manchester is where I earnt the name Thanatos. It was a year after I had gotten infected. I... I wanted something done about the petty squabbles of humanity. So I turned the city into my own hive, where it remains today 

Touka: That was you?

Y/n: I have an entire army at my beck and call

Touka: Also... the water thing, that's a lie isn't it? I mean, you drink tea

Y/n: Yes it's a lie. I do so as a misdirection tatic. Have my possible enemies invest in something that doesn't work

She nodded as I finished up. The little bit of me went around repairing her again and I sat next to her lounging a bit
