You stare at the gates trying to drink up the atmosphere. You were finally here but at a loss of how to get inside - you didn't even now if there was anyone home.

"Well," you thought shrugging your shoulders ,"I might as well try".

- 2 hours later-

You sat down in defeat, jumping, yelling, cardboard signs nothing had done the job. You found this surprising since the camera's barrel was pointing straight at you. You stare at intently, almost trying to see inside. Wait a second, the flipping light isn't on.

You curse at yourself how could you have missed that. You rush forward towards it and scrabble to find its control box. You hope that years of engineering classes would finally pay off. You yank off the dull, rusted metal covering, a small trickle of blood slides your pale hand from a cut on your left thumb. It's a small price to pay. Inside is a jumble of wires, red, blue, yellow, an assault on your sight. Slowly sorting through the mess you pull out a black one, a split black wire, someone had snipped it, someone hadn't wanted the camera to work, someone was planning something. You dismiss this as a childish idea - the Avengers would know if they had been infiltrated. Wouldn't they?

"Don't be stupid," you scold yourself sharply, "focus on the task."

You grab the two halves and press them together. A shower of sparks rain down on your muddy black trainers. Dammit, you forgot to kill the power. Groping through the tangle you find a switch - after flicking it, it kills the power. Tentatively you twist the copper strands together and fix it with the roll of electrical tape that you keep in your bag. You've learnt over the many years of living on the street that keeping a few things handy can be very helpful. Turning the switch on you pray to the gods you don't believe in, that this will work, otherwise you are stuck in a foreign country with no money and no life.

The light flashed red. Your heart beat quickened, they can see me.

"Hello, Hello, is anyone there," you yell into the now alive machinery. "Hello, please anyone."

"Hey kid, town's a few miles south of here," said the voice of Rhodey over the tannoy speakers, "You're trespassing on private property - please vacate the area."

"No please wait, I need to talk to the Avengers please - also I am 18!," you beg gazing towards the blank camera.

"Well you're talking to them, you have 60 seconds to explain yourself before I call security," he replies in an exasperated tone of someone with far more pressing events. This angered you. Why aren't they giving you a fair chance!

"It's easier if I show you," you mutter whilst turning your body towards the camera. You were going to show them. Show them the reason you never had friends. Show them the reason you were abandoned, show them why you need their help.

You snap your fingers...nothing happens.

No you scream internally, it has to work, it can't fail now. "This is just my luck," you sigh I mean of course it didn't  fail during Chris's birthday all those years ago. The screams of the children and the adults disgusted faces haunt your dreams every stormy night.

Of course it didn't fail during prom, though seeing Marissa scream like a pig as her dress caught fire was worth it. Served her right for calling you a stupid nerd (I mean that just contradicts itself). But of course it would fail now, just before you were going to find your purpose in life.

You snap your fingers again, hoping, praying that it would work. A small flash of light appeared. You grin whilst snapping your fingers again, a flame appears between the tips of them. Tipping it into the palm you blow your warm breath into the fire. It surges in size, bigger than your palm, stretching skywards it swirls in the cold winters air. You force the blazing flame into a small ball between your hands - letting go it hangs mid-air spinning like a globe. Burnt reds and oranges swirl in its containment, waves of colour crashing into its invisible walls. Chaos fighting

You stand there grinning like an idiot. It worked, they have to let me in now.

Bucky's voice comes over the speakers "What the..," he was cut off by the clatter of a chair being pushed over.

"Language," yells Sam triumphantly

"Okay I know Steve gave you his shield but that doesn't make you Steve," retorts Bucky. "You know that right?

"You're just jealous"

"Am not"

A dull thud resonated through the speaker.

"Did you just hit me," Bucky hissed with malice.

"What you gonna do old man," spat Sam.

"AHHHHHH!"

"AHHHHHH!"

"Stop it you two or I shall put you in the mirror dimension along with Pepper and T'Challa," said Stephen in his ever so placid tone.

The fighting ceased. You were confused, did the Avengers really fight like this all the time. Maybe you had made a mistake, in coming here.

"Hey, Hey, Hey," An unfamiliar voice broke your thoughts." Does anyone remember the teenager we left outside?"

This made you even more angry. Why can't they understand that your an adult but the more pressing matter was you had no idea who was speaking.

"For the last time I'm 18 and who even are you," you yell.

"I am Ant-Man!" replies Scott

"Who"

"I'm Ant-Man, you know the guy who can get really small and controls an army of ants."

"Not really ringing any bells," you apologise towards the camera.

"Well you probably just want a picture with the Hulk don't you."

You could hear the contempt in his voice.

"Now, now, now don't you think we should let them in, they are probably catching their death out there, also it will allow Rhodey the chance to finally explain why he gathered us all," boomed Thor's deep rolling voice.

"Why why why someone actually remembered me - thank you Thor," replied a grateful Rhodey."Hey Carol can you open the gate from that control panel."

"You know I save planets right," stated a disgruntled Carol.

"Sister, I save galaxies and I still have to answer to this humie, we all have our problems," snapped Rocket. "Deal with it and open the damn door."

The gates swung open to a road which led to the compound. No you thought, it leads towards my new life.
