"Did I take you by surprise," he questions as lifts his body off of yours.

"Hell yes you took me by surprise, you took me down with no warning or explanation," you retort seething with humiliation. How could he do that! "You didn't even give me a chance to protect myself."

"Well now I know where to start with your training - the beginning," he starts sternly standing by your feet and staring down at you. "Let's start with a few basic rules. Rule number 1, you should always be ready to defend yourself no matter the situation. Even if it seems like you are in the safest most secure place in the world, always be on your guard. Rule number 2, your attacker is unlikely to make themselves known to you before they strike. So, keep your wits about you. Rule number 3, they aren't going to let you fight back. Once they've assessed your powers, they are going to try trap your hands as fast as they can. They are your main weapons so try to keep them close to you at all times. You keeping up?" "

You nod your head while you get up from the floor and dust yourself down.

"Final rule - trust your instincts. If anything gives you even the slightest doubts, it's probably wrong. Okay? Now show me a basic fighting stance."

You adjust your feet and hands, hoping you'd got it correct – you didn't want to see Bucky get annoyed. Rumors said that he was trained by Hydra as a ruthless assassin and he absolutely terrified you! It was probably due to those cold, steely, dull blue eyes that could stare right through you. Snapping out of your thoughts you look towards him; he appeared to be judging every fibre of your soul with his gaze.

"Bring your hands closer together and centre them in front of your chest. Good now pull them a little more towards you." You do this without hesitation. "Okay now bring them upwards so they're in front of your chin."

He nods at you, "okay that's good." Positioning himself in front of you he raises his non-metal hand, " Okay now punch it."

You steady yourself and hesitantly make impact with his palm.

"Harder than that, come on I can take it Flames," he says teasing you.

You retract your arm and bring it forward at an alarming speed. The expression on his face was priceless as his hand fell limply to his side. He tended to the burning pain that was searing along the face of his palm. Tears seemed to fill his once life-less orbs. It served him right for mocking you.

"Wow, you pack one hell of a punch," he cries.

"While I may have never been trained, I can still hold my own," you retort rather haughtily. He looks at you and quickly sweeps you off your feet again. You hit your head on the ground as you land flat on your back and whimper like a hurt puppy.

"One more rule – this probably doesn't apply to all opponents only to me and maybe some of the others - never get cocky while you're fighting. We will make you eat dirt!" he says chuckling evilly. "Get up I'll teach you some blocks."

For the next hour you practiced blocks, kicks and you could even unarm a marksman, but the highlight was learning how to flip a person over your back. That meant that Bucky's body kept landing over and over on the matt and he couldn't do anything about it.

"Okay let's try sparring, I'll go easy and let you attack first."

"No don't go easy, I need to learn how to fend for myself j...ahhh," no sooner had the words left your lips you were pinned back on the floor. "Okay maybe you can go a bit easier."
