Scarlett P.O.V
I rushed through the grade 6 door. Today was Band Camp!! I looked around and frowned. My best friend, Leah, wasn't here. Neither was her twin, Zoe. I sighed and plopped down onto my desk, adjusting my oboe case strap, Suddenly, two very well known dark-haired people ran in, Zoe almost hitting the band teacher, Mr.Gonzales, with her clarinet. Leah got her flute strap stuck in the doorway. I jumped off to help her, but a dark-haired woman with dyed purple tips walked in and tugged. I stopped and stared. "Who are you?" (Wait a minute, who aaarree you?). "Oh, yeah, I keep forgetting no one here knows my parents. This is my mom, Reyna" said Leah, hoisting her case strap. "Oh" was my very smart answer. Her mom was scary. Like actually, she looked like a soldier who wouldn't hesitate to yell at anyone. Zoe ran up "Oh, hey Scarlett. Mom, this is Scarlett, Leah's best friend. Where's Mom?" She directed the last part to Reyna. She pointed out the hallway. Zoe nodded and ran out. "Soo...Are you volunteering?" I asked awkwardly. I was not good with adults. She nodded just as the bell rang, signaling first class for everyone but Band Camp students. Zoe ran back in just as Mr. Fernando, our student teacher, was calling out groups and dorms. "And last group, number 12, Zoe, Scarlett, and Leah. The Adult Supervisor is Ms. Rameriz-Arellano-Grace. The first 7 teams are on the bus, rest are in cars. The bus is coming in 30 minutes. People in cars may leave now" Reyna rummaged through her pockets and frowned. She stuck her head out the doorway "Mi Cielo, where's my car keys?" a blur passed her and she caught it easily. "Let's go," she said, literally sauntering out the door. I shot a look towards Leah "Mom picked it up from living on the streets and passed it on way to quickly" she said quietly as she walked out the door. I followed her. Outside, leaning against the wall, was a woman-no, teen who looked like a 15-year-old. She had keys hanging from one pocket and a chain hanging from the other. Leah ran up " Mom, this is Scarlett. My best friend" I stared. " Y-you're 15" I stuttered. She snorted and slid off the wall. "Yes, I very much am," she said, walking towards the door. "An if you excuse me, I have to get something" I moved aside. I turned to Leah again "My mom just looks that way. And she's as bad as the Joker" I nodded and followed her, her twin, and her mom outside, where, to my surprise a huge black SUV with the purple words SPQR on the sides.
