If anything, the one thing 4-year-old Watson-Holmes twins Emily and Hamish hated one thing more than anything else. When people called their dad, Sherlock, a freak. Fortunately, people learned a long time ago not to say the word in front of them.

Sherlock and Watson had let the then 2-year-old twins wander around while they talked to Greg. The pair of them crawled back just in time to hear Donovan call the slight sociopathic, definitely insomniac detective a freak. Hamish had no idea what it meant, but he saw his daddy, John, tense up and took it as a bad sign. He whispered in Emily's ear " That man not being nice to Dada", and she tensed as well. 2 minutes later Donovan saw Emily stand up on wobbly toddler legs, pick up a rock, and throw it with frighting accuracy and speed at his eyes, while Hamish crawled up to his legs and bit his ankle surprisingly hard. He jumped up with a yell and the older Watson-Holmes laughed. Since then, the two would bring their children to every case, where people would give the twins odd and slightly scared looks, especially as they grew older, as Hamish always had his water pistol and Emily always had her pocket full of rocks.

Hamish and Emily had the mind set and personality that one could only get with a detective and doctor as parents, especially since they had been abused up to the age of  1, which was when the two were rescued. For example, they had made their own language when they were 5, using random-sounding taps and knocks. Not even Sherlock could figure it out. Hamish and Emily also spoke like they were 2 years older than their actual age, and both preferred to play with Sherlock's spare limbs and John's medical tools rather than with cars or dolls. During the winter, Emily would spend hours building snow-skulls outside while Hamish would curl up on the couch, unmoving until his sister came back in.

John thought a bored Sherlock was tedious. A bored Hamish and Emily were worse. Emily would lay on her parent's bed, not moving, and if Hamish wasn't running around the house yelling bored at the top of his lungs, he would be draped on his sister, also not moving. It would be near impossible to get them off unless you gave them an interesting thing to do.
