Maddie's POV
I wake up on a typical Tuesday and run my fingers through the mess of bed-head. I force myself out of bed, even though I had no motivation to.
The full length mirror in my bedroom reflects my image. Due to my messy hair and baggy pajamas, I looked ugly at the least, but then again the definition of ugly is anything having to do with Chloe Lukasiak. I don't want to offend anyone, but it was the cold truth. An ugly personality destroys a pretty face.
I rush to pull on a pair of black leggings and a red oversized sweater. Not bothering to eat breakfast, I skip to brushing my teeth and putting on a pair of converse.
When I arrive at school I get an angry text from my mother scolding me about not cleaning the bathroom this morning. What did she want me to do? I would be late for school. I shut my phone in my locker as if I was muting my mother's screaming. Actually, just in time to see Chloe and Josh walk down the hall as usual. Chloe giving me a scowl. I honestly had no idea why she hated me, I was no threat to her.
The bell rang and I took my seat in biology. We had a huge project coming up and today got our partners. Oh great. Mrs. Thomas read the list until she stopped at my name. "Madison and Paige." she called out. I completely ignored the rest of the list and took pity on myself for being paired with Chloe's "twinnie."
We met with our partners a few minutes later. The first thing Paige says to me is "How much will it cost to have you finish the whole project alone?" I laughed and said "Not a chance blondie." She looked at me rudely. After a short silence she responded with "Are you sure there's nothing you want?"
"Actually, if you tell me why Chloe hates me so much I'll do the project."
"Fine. She hates you because Josh always mentions you."
"That's not a brief enough explanation."
Then the bell rang. "Stop by my house after school and I'll tell you." She said hastily. The thought of Josh Hyland even knowing who I am is strange.
