Saturday, 25th of June. Happy 25th birthday to me!

I remained in bed for half an hour to check my phone and to simply take it easy before getting up. There were a lot of notifications popping up all the time, but I prioritized Tay's texts. She wrote a novel on how much she loved me and on all the positive things about me, as she always did on my birthday. She was the friend everyone wished they had and I was lucky to have her in my life; we had been friends since kindergarten.

I finally got myself to get up when my phone started ringing, mom's caller ID on the screen. Smiling, I answered. ''Hello momma''.

''Happy birthday my sweet girl! I can't believe you're 25, honey. I love you so much'' my wonderful mother said, and I knew she was probably tearing up.

''Thank you, mom! I love you more and I can't wait to see you for lunch'' I answered, excited to meet my mom in only two hours. It was a tradition of ours to have lunch together on my birthday, and to spend the whole birthday day together when there wasn't a party in plan. We'd do the same with her, though she never liked to have big parties for her birthday, so we'd spend the day together with her friends and sometimes even with Tay.

''I'll pick you up at 12:30, alright?''.

''Sounds good, see you soon'' I said before hanging up.

After having a delicious lunch with my mom, I went home only to find a big box of cupcakes in front of my door. There were 18 of them, each with a letter on them, together spelling ''Happy birthday Hazel''. I knew it was the work of either Taylor or Maria, my boss, but I'd find out later tonight, since the card on the box was unsigned.

The clock showed 3 pm so I took  a shower and then I'd slowly start to get ready for the night. I was so happy knowing I was lucky enough to spend my birthday with my friends. I had rented a bar - Sky Room, just for the night, with the help of Maria who with a simple smile charmed the owner. She was an event manager and knew almost every single bar, pub and restaurant owner. Taylor had offered to decorate the place and did not want me to come over until the evening, so I did as told and waited. She was a really good decorator, had a good eye for it.

After doing my makeup for over an hour, I smiled at myself in the mirror; it turned out pretty. I went for a black matte eyeshadow and then some silver tones. I couldn't decide what lipstick to wear, so I put on a nude one and went to do my hair. Maybe staring at myself in the mirror for too long would change my mind about it, maybe I would like it. My hair took almost an hour to do and it was worth the little arm workout I did while doing these cute ass beach waves.

I still had one hour until Taylor would come pick me up, but I put on my dress and shoes to see how I'd look tonight. Loving the choice of outfit, I decided it was time to take a million mirror selfies only for me to choose one to post. 15 minutes later, after looking at every picture until finding all my flaws, I posted one on my story on Instagram with the caption ''Birthday girl is ready to celebrate! 👑✨💁🥂''.

One hour later my best friend picked me up and we drove to the party location

One hour later my best friend picked me up and we drove to the party location. The bar was on the last floor of the building, which gave view to the beautiful New York at night.

''Okay, I'd blindfold you but your makeup is too good so whatever'' Tay laughed as we went inside and took the elevator. ''Are you ready?'' she smiled excitedly as we reached the last floor. Nodding in excitement, I stepped out of the elevator and went to the right. I could not wait to see how the place looked. ''Tadaaa'' Tay yelled as she opened her arms to present the result; it was so pretty I almost cried.

''Tay, are you serious? This is so beautiful'' I looked around to see groups of balloons in gold, white and black everywhere, and the two big helium ones that I bought floating elegantly next to a wall, showing my age. There was a long table with snacks and food and a bar stacked with drinks, two bartenders behind it. Of course, in the middle of the gigantic room was a dance floor, because me and my friends loved dancing. A party was not a party without dancing. Everywhere were beautiful details in my favorite colors and I was really thankful for having a friend who was willing to do all that for me.

''Happy birthday, babe! You're the best old woman there ever is, you're soon going to be a gilf'' she said amused as she hugged me.

''Hey, take it easy, you're one year older than me. You're more likely to become a gilf before me'' I responded as I hugged her back. ''Thank you for all this, I love you so much''.

''You deserve it. Now let's have a drink just you and me, until everyone gets here'' she grabbed my hand and we headed towards the bar. ''By the way, the bartenders are cute as fuck'' she whispered as I checked them out only to agree with her.

After taking another million pictures of the beautiful location and posting it on social media - yeah, I was a sucker for social media, I sat down and enjoyed my drink with my best friend next to me. Five minutes and 12 notifications later I checked my phone aaand...woah, there he was again.

Happy birthday to you! :) xojd.

Oh my god.

Hey, isn't that Sky Room? My friends and I

used to go to that place almost every Saturday.

Good choice!

Oh my god. I showed Taylor and she was as shocked as me. The guy either liked talking to me or that was the way he was, a good guy talking to his followers.

''I'm gonna joke and tell him to come have a drink'' I said as I laughed at the idea of him giving a single shit about my birthday party.

Yes it is. Come have a drink with us then 😜.
