Who am I?

The Earth People

Once we got past the border and into New Brunswick, we stopped at a motel and checked in. Then, Anthony finally began his story. "A hundred or so years ago, there was a powerful race of supernaturals. They lived high in the trees in the forests. They were kind of secretive but would help people if they needed it."

"No one really knew the full extent of their powers when they were at their peak but they were pretty powerful and they were called Earth people for a reason. Rumour has it, they had the spirit of the earth and that's why they were so powerful. But certain people feared them because they didn't understand them or maybe because they were so powerful and different yet didn't rule over supernatural communities."

"Either way, orginizations of hunters formed from any race and were dedicated to destroying the earth people. It was devastating. So many of them were killed in attacks that they eventually left their homes in the trees and fled into towns. It was safer and they were able to blend in so it got that you really couldnt tell who was an earth person, who was a normal person, or who was a supernatural."

" This led to marriages between earth people and other supernatural races creating more of what they call half bloods. Most of the half blood kids either got one ability, no abilities, or lower versions of both. But the violence didn't stop there. These people wanted to get rid of all the earth people so there was more hunting until there was only one earth people famiy left and they weren't even full blood so they're no longer called earth people, we call them spirits."

"All the hunter organizations are gone now but the supernatural world is still in turmoil. A new problem cropped up when this girl was born with spirit powers. Every couple generations, a child is born with full spirit powers and they're taught the old ways by their family and then they're promoted to full earth person and take on the job of peace keepers and helpers. Souds great right?"

"It usually is, it's a time of celebration because things are kind of dull without earth people or spirits. There's a lot of fighting and tension between races and it's just not good." He shuddered. "Well this girl was born with the powers and it's customary that the kids get a normal childhood before being told what they are so they're usually told when they're 18 and then are resposible enough to handle the responsibility."

"This girl was a little different however. Her powers were strange and dark and unlike anything that's ever been seen before. Her spirit powers were the opposite of what they were supposed to be. Instead of bringing life, she brought death, instead of peace she brought war and destruction. She influenced the earth the way spirits do but her method was so... unnatural. Anyway, she learned what she was way too early."

They thought telling her early would knock the darkness from her but it just made it worse. She was told at 16 and got really power hungry. She managed to get imps to work for her and started influencing people to follow her. She gradually took control and her power's still growing today. She's stifling all other supernatural powers and oppressing families in supernatural communities until they're at her mercy."

"thankfully, another child was born with full spirit powers a few years after her. They didn't tell this kid because they were so scared of what happened The dark girl and some say that no body even knows who the kid is, but they were born to bring balance to the world again. The thing with the imps is, Imps are the natural enemy of earth people. They were a threat to the original race but since Shadow was like the opposite, they're naturally drawn to her."

"The bad thing is that once the kid finds out that they're a spirit, they attract the imps that will try to kill them. Even worse is that they're under her power and she'll definitely want to kill her rival. So this kid is somewhere in Canada supposedly and is one of the most powerful spirits so far. I guess it's rare that two spirits would be born so close together so the old people are edgy." 

That was a lot to take in but I was shocked at how terribly they treated that poor race of supernaturals to the point of near extinction. And that Shadow girl gave me chills. This was not good. I had no idea that things were better in the supernatural communities before. I just thought that the shabby way they were when I saw them was just how they were.

I knew that there would be no sense worrying about it and would try to get some sleep. when an idea popped into my mind. "Hey! maybe we should try and meet this spirit kid. I bet they could help with my memories!" I exclaimed. 

Zoe sighed. "I wish we could. No one knows who it is now. The families are so mixed up that it's hard to tell which family is going to pop out a spirit kid. There's only a few families with strong spirit bloodlines but it's literally impossible to tell which one the next one's coming from. I doubt the kid him or herself knows what they are."

I slumped down hating the disappointment that settled itself into my stomach. Then another idea. "Wait what if that girl is the earth spirit!" I said. They nodded looking excited. "She could be! No one knows the full extent of their powers so maybe dream walking is one of them!" Jason smiled. "We're on a roll. If she is, she'll be able to help you. Tell you why you're invisible and basically nonexistent to normal people and only vague and mostly and aura to Anthony and Zoe. To me you're there but your aura is weird and too strong."

I nodded smiling. "Thanks for the help guys but I'm beat. Goodnight." then I turned over and went to sleep.
