Better Times

19 1 1

Sitting amongst the rubble

Staring at your dead eyes

taking in the Sulpher

and your skin, cold as ice

If only had you survived

We would have lived to see better times

Instead we were forced

to answer other's crimes

Out of nowhere come a bullet

that pierced my already broken heart

Unbearable pain lurched through my insides

as my life slowly and painfully drifted apart

It never was our fault

we were born in this god-foresaken city

whose children chose guns over books

The world could do nothing but pity.
