Cole's POV
One thing I disliked the most was my father and now I'm stuck here having dinner with him, mom and grandma.
We were all seated at the table and the silence was really comfortable.
When I walked in at first, I glanced at my father and I saw the disapproving look he gave to me but I paid him no mind. I nodded politely to him because I didn't want to say anything especially to him.
The dinner was going on well because no one said anything. I knew that if we started conversations, then one thing would lead to another and I'll end up stabbing the man with my fork.
But it seems the odds weren't in my favor because mom decided to speak up.
"So Cole how have you been so far? " she asked me. Why was she acting like she cared all of a sudden. I loved my mom and I wouldn't want to see her hurt but there are certain things that should remain the way they are. Like her not asking how I've been. Like she suddenly cares.
I raise my left eyebrow at that.
"Since you asked. I've been good. Not like you care though. " I said to her. She looked at me with pain registering in her features but quickly left like it wasn't even there.
"What do you mean I don't care of course I do. " she says.
Oh spare me the lies.
"You don't mom. You never did. It was like I wasn't even there. You were never there for me. Maybe you were at the early stages of my life and then you just stopped and now you're here asking me how I've been. Tell me mom when last did you ever ask me that? When last did you smile at me or embrace me? When last did you even acknowledge my presence? You never did so don't come here pretending you care when you clearly don't. " I say to her with tears brimming my eyes but I fight them back.
My dad drops his fork on his plate that made the whole room silent. He was glaring at me.
"Never speak like that to your mother. " he warns me.
I look at him and laugh.
"Dad don't talk like that. We both know you've done worse. So I don't see why me talking to mom the way I just did is making you angry. " I could see the anger in the way he looked at me. I use that as an opportunity to continue talking.
"The both of you have never done anything for me. Never cared for me. So you don't have the right to waltz in here and act like the best parents in the world. When we all know you aren't. " I looked over to my mom and she was already crying and dad was just glaring at me. While grandma was just seated there. I'm so sorry mom but I had to say this. I had to say what's been bothering me.
Silence fills the room again and i couldn't stay here. I got up and all eyes follow me. I turn to face Olivia.
"Olivia I'm sorry but I just lost my appetite. So I'm going up to my room. " I didn't wait for her response, I turned around to walk away when my dad called me.
"Cole. " he said but I didn't bother turning around to face him. I stay silent.
"Don't be a fool son. You know we are doing all this for your own good. " Did he just hear himself. For my own good.
I was very angry already, I turned around to face him.
"For my own good? For my own good? Can you fucking hear yourself. You didn't do anything for me. You're doing all this for wealth. For your damn reputation. So don't ever say you're doing it for my own good. Do you even know what's good for me? "
I couldn't bare it again, I was beyond angry. I was furious.
"Watch you language son. " he warned getting up this time. I didn't look at him. I looked over to mom who was crying and my heart ached for her but I made no move to comfort her.
