"Mike, are you seeing what I'm seeing?" I rubbed my eyes one more time but the image didn't disappear. Mike spun around and quickly noticed the same as me.
"Shit."

The boy in the middle of the field had his eyes trained on us. Mike pulled me behind him slowly.
"There's a girl on our right." My head whipped to the right and there was indeed a girl staring at us.
"Mike, stop looking at them. They're fog people. Who knows what'll happen." I grabbed his hand and started dragging him backward.
"Is it me or is the boy running at us crazy fast?" Mike asked as he started to drag me along with him.
"Shit, he is. He's almost here." I pushed Mike to the side as a body ran past us.
"Follow me." Mike grabbed my hand and dragged me the opposite way.
"You got us lost in the mall, we're screwed." I tried to lighten the mood.
"Thanks for the reminder." Mike looked back and pulled me behind him. The boy jumped at us from behind a tree. Mike swung the bat but it went straight through him. The boy took a swing at Mike and he staggered back. In a reflex, I grabbed the fallen bat and aimed for the boy. Don't ask me how, but I managed to hit him.
"Great." Surprised but with newfound courage I tried to hit the boy again. This time, knocking him out.
"Nice swing. Let's go." Mike grabbed my hand and we ran towards the exit of the forest. I look over my shoulder at the girl. She just stood there, pointing at us wearing an evil grin. What the hell is going on here?

"What was that?" Mike rested his hands on is knees, trying to catch his breaths.
"I have no clue. I do have the feeling they don't like me." I breathed heavy.
"You think so?" Mike stated. "No one can know about this, okay? We have to remember tonight differently."
"Easier said than done." I replied dryly. We both froze as voices neared us. Mike grabbed my shoulders and backed me up against the nearest wall.
"Then remember this." He whispered as he connected our lips.
"Seems like this spot is already taken." A girl's voice giggled. Mike and I broke apart after we were sure the couple had left.

"Was that Chasity?" I asked. Mike nodded in reply.
"With Damian." I couldn't say I was surprised. They've been having an on-again-off-again relationship for a year now. The last time they broke up was like a Broadway musical. Afterward, Chastity swore off boys, well she says she does.
"Guess we found something to remember." Mike faked his hurt as I didn't comment on the kiss. "Come on Casanova, let's go home."

"How's my favorite couple, apart from me and my babe?" Connor walked out of the house with Beau as Mike and I entered the front yard.
"Beau you came!" I squealed.
"Obviously, but then I heard you were dumb enough to run after the fog." She smacked my arm. "Hold on, are you okay? You're as white as snow." Mike placed his arm around his shoulder and gave Beau an apologetic shrug.
"She's not feeling well. I'm sorry but we have to call it a night." Everyone left without an issue.
"You didn't have to kick them out you know."
"I know, just wanted to have some alone time with you. You seriously look really pale. You okay?"
"I'm fine." I lied.
"No, you're not. Babe, I know you." Mike turned around and walked into the kitchen. Instead of following him, I made my way into the living room.

On the mantel is a photo of me and Mike on our 6-month anniversary, next to a recently taken picture. A year and a half apart but we still look like two love drunk teens.
"Remember this, you gave me a bracelet." I said as Mike walked into the room.
"Of course I do." He chuckled. "You only took it off when I gave you a new one."
"Which I'm not taking off either." I giggled. "Only in emergencies."
"Deal." Mike hugged me from behind as we looked at the photos. Knowing I would be taken, I tried to lean into him as much as possible.
"Don't let go." I whispered.
"Never."
