"Jen, I'm going to have to ask you to step out of the office. The reds have a meeting tonight, we'll tell you everything then. I'll have Jackson pick you up." Vaughn subtly urged me out of the office.
"Sure, fine by me." I muttered before spinning on my heels and walked out. After walking home and explaining everything to Sam, we walked towards the supermarket.
"You're new so you are going to get questioned a lot. It is strange how strong Orson's dislike against you is. It goes deeper than just catching that chain." Sam chatted along. The day was filled with Sam explaining the routine in town. On Sundays, you are obligated to eat at the cafeteria. You work five days a week and the weekends are free. However, orange and red follow different rules. Sam explained it as freelancing. You work when you have to and if you don't have to then you won't.It was about 8 p.m. when the doorbell rang. Sam stood up to open the door and Jackson appeared in the doorway.
"I came to pick up Jen." He announced.
"Just need to put on my shoes."
"Do you have any idea who will be there?" Sam asked.
"Yes." I answered while grabbing my coat. "Katy, Ethan, Sharon, Elijah, Ayden and Jackson. I guess both Vaughn and Orson will be attending as well?" Jackson nodded in reply. We quickly walked towards the office.
"Glad you could make it." Vaughn said as we knocked on the door.
"Are we early?" It was just Jackson, Vaughn and I. The rest was nowhere to be seen.
"For now. I want to give you a heads up." Vaughn started. "Orson doesn't like you, which means that Katy and Sharon won't like you either. Elijah could be on your side but it will take some persuasion. I want to partner you up with Ayden, he will always attend the red missions and is a close friend of mine. You're safe with him." My mind was blank. What is this?
"Katy and Sharon are or were girlfriends of Orson, I assume." Jackson and Vaughn both nodded."Gossip time is over." Orson busted through the door. "I knew you called a meeting earlier, so I was so nice to invite everyone." A couple of girls walked in first, both winking at Orson. I rolled my eyes which earned me a deadly glare from both of them. The girls were followed by two guys. One looked at me warily, so I think that's Elijah. The other one looks at Vaughn, he came to sit next to me after Vaughn had nodded at him.
"Ayden." He muttered under his breath.
"Jennifer."The meeting dragged along for more than 4 hours and we finally got excused.
Jackson took it upon himself to walk me home, which I was kind of grateful for.
"How are you feeling?" Jackson asked.
"Exhausted." Just walking home made me notice the amount of energy I had lost during the meeting. The meeting was filled with talking about rules and descriptions. Thankfully they gave me a handout. Maybe I can find a couple of loopholes. Rule-breaking will be severely punished, but they don't have a law against law-bending."How was the meeting?" Sam asked as we arrived at the house.
"In her exact words? Exhausting." Jackson answered. "We should probably walkher to her room. She can barely stand up straight." Both Sam and Jackson walkedme to my room.
"Jackson, can you stay and tell me some things about the meeting?" Samwhispered as he threw my door open.
"Yeah, will do. I need a drink. She can fill you in tomorrow. Somehow Vaughnand Jen had understood each other with a few looks. I'm quite curious myselfabout that."
"Vaughn and Jen?" Sam asked confused. "They're quite similar to character somaybe that makes it easier to understand?"
"Maybe, we'll see tomorrow."***
