THIRD PERSON POV

"That's all for the meeting, please go home now and rest. We're playing five sets tomorrow so reserve your energy." Coach Ukai stated.

"OSU!"

Then a phone ringing caught their attentions as they were eager to know who it is. Takeda pulled out his phone, facing the players with an excited expression while he accepted the call.

"It's Kumi!" He whispered, making everyone hurriedly huddle around him.

"I was worried we aren't getting any call from her after beating her ex." Tanaka sighed.

"Hello—"

"KUMI-CHAN!"

She lets out a raspy but carefree laugh. "Congratulations on your win today! I really forced my parents to take me to the gym but the doctors won't allow."

"Hey it's fine!" Noya beamed.

"You recover there and we'll do the playing," Daichi reassured.

"Just get some rest, Kumi." Sugwara added.

"That was a thrilling match," said the brown-haired girl. "Good job on receiving Oikawa's serves Daichi-san, you too Nishinoya! And Yamaguchi— where's Yamaguchi?"

"I-I'm here...Kumi." Yamaguchi spoke up shyly.

"I don't know what to say...I'm just so...PROUD! Really." She replied, a big smile spreading across Yamaguchi's freckled face as he silently muttered a 'thank you'. "And Asahi-san, your jump serves were great! Especially the one that curved!"

"I don't remember that one maybe because I was too nervous," Asahi chuckled shyly. "But thank you, Kumi."

"Kei! Your blocks are better this time. Make sure to stop Ushijima's spikes tomorrow!"

"No promises." Tsukishima muttered.

"Suga-san and Tobio, t-the two setter play I taught you, you actually did it! That was awesome! Suga-san, your tactics really worked against them, it helped change the flow of the game!"

"You think so?" Sugawara chuckled.

"Yeah, and Tobio!" Kageyama quickly peered closer.

"You really are a great setter."

Kageyama's eyes widened at the sudden compliment. She said that sentence in a serious tone, making him all the more motivated as he held a determined face.

"Thank you. By the way, how are you?" Kageyama's face softened.

"I'm not done yet idiot!" Kumi scolded playfully, making Kageyama shrink behind his teammates. "Anyway, Shoyo how does it feel to hit a falling toss during an intense match?"

"It felt amazing!" Hinata replied joyfully.

"Right right?! It goes swoosh! and bam!..."

As they continued talking, Kageyama shuts himself out, deep in thought. He was thinking about her, about how he noticed how she changed just by hearing her voice through the phone.

She's beaming and talking happily, but it was not the usual mood she gives out.

It's as if she's forcing herself. Kageyama thought worriedly.

He hasn't visited since the start of the InterHigh Qualifiers and he was dying to see her right now; tell her how she's been, wrap her in his arms until she falls asleep, listen to her volleyball stories...listen to her sing.

But those aren't possible until they play their last game for the qualifiers, and it's the championship match against Shiratorizawa tomorrow.

"I'll hang up now." She said, breaking Kageyama out from his thoughts. "Goodluck tomorrow! Just know that I'll be cheering for you."
