KUMI AYAME's POVI somehow felt like I'll never make it by the time I'll have the operation. I just want to get everything done with, even the pain I was suffering at the moment.
I woke up to a pain that suddenly striked the left side of my chest, my body trembling. I carefully fluttered my eyes open to see nothing but black.
Am I dead—
Then it moved, and the weight that draped over my waist moved and pushed me closer.
Realizing, it was a black cloth. Someone's t-shirt to be exact. I looked upon hearing silent snores that made my eyes softened as I found Kageyama's peaceful sleeping face.
He's right. He's the first thing I'll see when I wake up.
I wiggled myself out of his embrace, careful not to wake him up but eventually failed. His eyelids slowly opened, showing his tired blue orbs as it averted themselves to me who held a cheery smile.
"Morning Tobio!" I beamed, "I didn't really think you'd stay."
"I...s—" he yawned, rubbing his eyes and sat up. "—said, didn't I?"
"You should go now. It's Saturday and practice starts at 7."
"I called Daichi-san and he said I can just catch up in the afternoon." He replied, standing from the bed.
Then I only nodded in reply.
"Can I go down to the entrance and get some milk from the vending machine?" He asked.
"Sure, can you get me some yogurt drink?"
"Alright," he leaned down and pressed his lips on my forehead before walking out of the door.
I sighed in frustration, running a hand through my brown hair as I turn to look at the sun that has just risen.
This was one of the sceneries I'd always hope to wake up to. And who knows when will I ever see the next sunrise again?
A ring from my phone broke me out of my thoughts. I took it from the nightstand and checked the caller's id.
ASSIKAWA
Accept DeclineI raised a brow, wondering why would Oikawa be calling this early? I clicked the 'accept' button and I was greeted by an ear to ear smile from the wavy-haired brunette shown in the screen.
"Good morningggg~ Aya-chaaaaaaaan!!!" Oikawa's childish voice yelled.
"Good morning, Tooru." I greeted back, chuckling. "Why did you call this early?"
"You see, Aya-chaaaaan. Tobio-chan called last night and told me to call you anytime today when I'm not busy. But of course Aya-chan, I have all the time in the world to spare for youuuuuuu~"
"Tobio? Called you? Why?" I asked, confused.
"Beats me. How dare he ordered me to do something, I don't even have any idea how he got my number!" He shrugged, pouting. "But if it's regarding my angeeeeel~ I'd make time! Anywaaaaay, how are you? Iwa-chan and I were supposed to visit you but we got busy since graduation's in a few months."
"It's alright. And I think I'm feeling fine now."
"You hear that, Iwa-chaaan?" Oikawa turned to his right, "My angel's feeling better now—"
"Tooru another girl? Stop talking and hurry up!"
"T-Takeru! Shut up! A-and she's not just any girl, you brat." Oikawa pouted and adjusted his phone forward and the screen showed two males jogging behind him. "Look Aya-chan! Iwa-chan, Takeru, and I are out on a jog!"
Iwaizumi faced the cam and his grumbling expression soon turned into a small smile as he waved. "Hello Kumi—"
"Hehh?? Is that Ayame?" Oikawa's nephew cuts Iwaizumi off. "It is! Ayame-san! Do you still remember me?!"
"Hey Takeru!" I smiled at the boy as Oikawa passed him the phone. "You've grown since the last time I saw you! How are you?"
"I'm fine! I'm better at volleyball than Tooru now!" Takeru replied happily.
"You don't even know the basics yet!" Oikawa argued childishly.
"That's because you won't teach me!"
"Learn how to respect your elders first!"
"Teach me the jump serve!"
"I won't!"
"I'm telling grandma!"
"You wouldn't dare—"
"Shittykawa stop yelling!" Iwaizumi fumed as I only laugh at the two bickering Oikawas.
"Iwa-chan stop cursing infront of my nephew!" Oikawa cried. "He's a child!"
"Pretend you didn't hear anything, Takeru." Iwaizumi stated bluntly.
Takeru nodded diligently and turned back to me. "Are you and Tooru back together?"
"Uhm...no," I laughed nervously. "But we're great friends atleast!"
"Is it true that Uncle Tooru cheated?"
I widened my eyes, hearing Iwaizumi snort as Oikawa shrieked and quickly took the phone from the kid's grasp. But Takeru still shouted from behind the brown-haired setter.
"His previous girlfriend dumped him because he loves volleyball more than her!"
"TAKERU I SAID S-SHUT UP!" Oikawa yelled but his nephew only stuck his tongue out while waving his hand that earned the setter an irk mark.
"Woah, your previous dumped you because you're too obsessed with volleyball?" I asked, hearing him sigh.
"Not only her, well actually most of them. You were the only who dumped me with a reason."
"Well do you have a reason to cheat?"
"Maybe," He said smugly, "But you won't listen so I guess I won't explain then—"
"Tooru look! An ice cream truck!"
"Early in the morning?! Have you lost your mind— Oi d-don't run off on your own. Takeru!" Oikawa panicked, "Iwa-chan, chase him, now!"
"You know he loved the bubblegum flavor because it's your favorite." He turned back to the screen.
"Does he now?"
"Can I hung up, Aya-chan? I can't seem to find Iwa-chan and Takeru. But I'll find time to visit you, I promise~"
"Haha! Alright Trashykawa, bye!" After he responded, I hung up and placed my phone back ontop of the nightstand.
What to do now? I sighed boredly and leaned on my bed, turning my head to the only sound audible inside the room—beeping sounds from the heart rate monitor.
As I stared at it long, I was starting to get anxious with every beat, wondering if the next thing I'll hear will be a prolonged sound and a straight line.
Until the door clicked open, snapping me out of my thoughts. I whipped my head to the door's direction and plastered a smile.
"Took you long Tobi—"
My eyes widened, not only seeing the black haired setter enter the room but the entire Karasuno team.
But it's only five minutes before they start practice. What are they doing here?
Confused but not surprised, I let the thought slide as a small smile tugged by the corner of my lips.
