Chapter 10

12 Hours left.

Tessa glanced at her watch. "This is insane. How is time going by so quick?"

With a sigh, Loki looked at Tessa again "What do you want?"

Tessa looked up, and resolve hardened her face "I am from a different timeline. You were never supposed to get the tesseract back after the battle of New York. When you used it to teleport, you created an alternate timeline which was not meant to exist. I'm here to take you back."

"Yet another person telling me I'm a mistake!" Loki growled.

"No. no. NO!"

"You would make me your tool!"

"No, I don't. In fact, the in the timeline I'm taking you to you are the king of Asgard!"

"For a moment, Loki didn't respond, 'What?' he finally said."

"Well you're disguised as Odin. But Thor has given up the throne. And you made him do that because you're smart and he's a giant oaf!"

"Loki shook his head, "Why are you doing this?"

Tessa paused and inhaled deeply, "I owe Frigga great debt. If I can help the person, she cared about most, I might be able to reduce my debt. Loki this timeline is destroying the fabric of the universe. I you continue to stay the entire universe will get destroyed!"

A faint smirk tugged at Loki's lips: "Loki, Destroyer of The Universe. I like it"

Tessa smiled.

Loki's face darkened. He looked towards Tessa and asked, "This timeline you're from, is my mother alive in it?"

Slowly, Tessa shook her head.

Loki turned away; his hands trembling ever-so-slightly .

"Was it because of me?" Loki asked.

"She knew what she was in for" Tessa consoled "She was raised by witches. She knew what was coming."

Leaning against the wall, Loki stared off into space - his expression one of shock and loss. Slowly he slumped and slid down to the ground. Tessa crouched beside him.

Loki spoke calmly "My mother once told me a story of girl who harnessed the power of the tesseract. She grew older slowly and all the people she loved die. She was a great warrior, but for every battle she fought, tragedy struck her. All her gifts were like her curses.

I always thought she told me this story to make me feel better about my situation. I thought it was just a story."

"Ya, well," Tessa said, nodding slowly, "Today you met the heroine of that story. But you know, there's much more to that story than meets the eye, and it gets better with time."

Slowly, for the first time, Loki gave Tessa a genuine smile.

Tessa stood up and caught hold of both of Loki's hands. "It's time to go."
