North Star

Chapter I

The sun rays went through to the opened windows in my room. The soft breeze of summer air blew the hanging curtain. I got up and folded the sheets before I headed to the bathroom. It's Monday and I have to go to my part time job as college professor in Holy Jesus University. It's MWF ( Mondays Wednesdays - Fridays). My job as an online tutor starts in the evening everyday. I earned $500 a week. I enjoyed doing this. I can buy what I want and do many things when I'm free from from work. I love traveling. I almost travelled in Asia. The last Asian country I never visited is Laos.
I finished getting ready. I got my bag and prepared to go. It is another day to earn money.
I still live with my family. Since I didn't marry early,I stayed with them. My siblings lived near so that my parents won't be lonely. I normally stayed at home if I don't have anything to do.
I don't want to get married after I saw the man whom I thought I  love the most got married. I was in college when I loved him.  I was heartbroken as if I was stabbed multiple times. It's painful. But honestly, it is the second man I loved. I thought he is the man who is right for me. I thought he would complete the thoughts I have in my mind but instead of getting close to me,he married his longtime crush too.
It is one sided love only for me. After that,I closed my heart and focus on things that made me forget them.
I became heartbroken two times. I was dead twice. Of course,I have to live my life again. I realized I don't have to live my life chasing other people. Instead I have to chase my own life and make the best of it. Now I did.
I am free and nothing to worry about. I am considered as silent millionaire. I smiled. Back then,I was very young and aggressive.
I want to be loved and have someone to be called boyfriend. But actually, it was like nonsense to me.
I am ambitious and goal oriented person. It is innate I am a perfectionist person. I usually make my student fear from mistake. I don't want them to settle for the least. I want them to be creative,to think deeply and do work with sensibility. I was never like this before. Probably I am but not totally similar today. I am terrific instructor. I am a linguistic professor in the university.
I entered the gate. There are students in the hallway. They  looked at me and greeted me when I passed by.
"Good morning,Miss Montenegro."
"Good morning,don't have any class?" I asked them. Their eyes were a little worried when I asked them.
"Yes miss."
"Okay."
I went to the faculty's office. There are teachers who are busy talking with each other.
"Oh,you're here,good friend. "
"Yeah,I have to make questionnaires for the test. "
I sat on my swivel chair and started doing my job.
Lee stood up and walked towards me. She put her hands on her waist.
"Why you didn't show up during my birthday party?"
"Oh,I'm sorry. I have work at night."
"C'mon,loosen up dude. You have to find some fun in your life now. Finn,working too hard makes you rigid. Remember that."
"I want money now."
She laughed as if I was stating a funny joke.
"I set you a blind date,Finn."
"What?are you insane?"
"Nope. Blind date. My boyfriend has lot of officemates who are still single. Maybe you find one interesting."
"We're not in America, my friend. So spare me from that thing. It doesn't work on me."
"America? Almost the whole world knows about blind date and they tried it and they are happy now staying together."
"Not for me. I don't like it. "
"C'mon, just try."
"I won't."
I kept quiet now. I'm sure Lee would win since she's good at pissing off people with her guts.

I had five lessons today. I was exhausted and went back home. There were two cars parked near the gate. I got off from my car and headed inside. I saw two elderly women and the other woman I found her familiar. 
I went to the kitchen to drink some cold water.
"Finn,please come over here."my mom called me from the living room. The two women were looking at me.
" They are here because of you,they want to talk with you. They already told me. It might be bad for you but for us,it is good. Don't ever think that we send you far away from us. We want you to have a good life."
" What do you mean mom?"
"They want you to marry her son."
"What??"
"I know you don't like to get married. But I think you can put up yourself with him. I know his son. You already met him. "
"What?You all wanted me to marry him?"
"Yes,you are in the right age. We are getting older . Time will come we will never be in your side. We don't want you to be alone."
"And by doing that,I won't be alone anymore."
"Just think of the things they had done for us. They helped us before. Think of this as our help for their family. He was rumored that he is married. If they found out that it's not,he will be fired."
"But what if it's true. He has a wife."
The woman in black suit raised her hand a little.
"Finn,my son never had a woman since before. He never attempted to have girlfriends or even just friends. My son is not the typical man you ever know."
"What?is he weird?"
"No. He's not."
"Is he gay? Maybe."
"What? He's not of course. He wants career too,honey."
"Then,why?I don't like this. I'm sorry but I can't do it."
"We promise you,he won't hurt you."
"What?"
"You'll be marrying him just in papers. During some important occasions in his company, like a party and he needs a date. That's the time,you will come in. "
"I'm not sure if I can do that. Who is he by the way?"
"Stephan Mattheo."
"He is?"
"Yeah,you met him before. Do you remember him?"
"No I don't. I don't remember his face. "
"Please help us,hija."
"Can you give me some time to think? I'm still surprised. I thought this situation is not real. I thought this is just some writer's imagination. "
"It's real. Hija."
I stood and walked away. I went to my room. I opened my PC and stated to work. My mind is still bubbling about the issue we were talking earlier.
