“FUCKING...!”, I screamed and kicked against the leftovers of a computer, immediately regretting it. I sat on the ground and held my hurting foot. Morgan stood at one of the still working computers, trying to figure out a way to bring Matt back. But not even he seems to understand the technology behind the simulation. I looked over to Chris but he still lay on the ground and didn’t move. I still couldn’t believe he did all this. I didn’t care if Murph or something else tempted him. What counted was, that he did it. “This is a bloody nightmare”, I mumbled and rubbed my face. But then we heard a silent groaning coming from our friend on the ground. He opened his eyes and slowly sat up. “You okay over there?”, asked Morgan without taking his eyes off the screen in front of him. Chris rubbed his face and groaned again. “He’s gone. Thank god! I finally can think straight again.” “Great…”, I said sarcastically and pulled my knees tightly to my chest. “Listen Dom… I… I’m sorry. It’s true, I love you, but as a friend! I… Murph somehow made me believe it was real love or something. I…” “It’s okay Chris.”, I interrupted him, “Better help us find a way to bring Matt back.” “Yeah okay. I guess I owe you that.”, he said and stood up to help Morgan.
We were working on the computers for what seemed like hours. Chris said we have to open one of the gates Murph uses, but we didn’t have enough energy. We tried multiple times, rewired all the cables and used a different computer. But Murph had destroyed almost everything. It seemed like all hope was lost and we were very close to giving up. But suddenly we felt something coming. An energy boost got shot through the whole simulation and the program for the gates finally booted up, opening a huge crack in space. On the other side of the crack we heard the sound of an engine. A car? We peeked into the space behind the crack, only to jump back again as a blue and purple car dashed through and made a full brake in the middle of our room. The doors opened and inside was… “Matt!”, I screamed and ran towards him. “All of you, get in! Quickly!”, he said. We all jumped into the car and Matt stepped on the gas. Before us formed a road out of pixels and Matt followed it. “Nice sunglasses.”, I said and grinned. He grinned back. “But how did you escape?”, asked Morgan. “Uh well, ya know…”, begun Matt but he was interrupted by a loud growl. We flinched and looked out the car windows. Behind us was a furious and screaming Murph. Whith his big claws he tried to grab the car and stop us from escaping. “Is it just me or is he getting bigger and bigger?”, asked Chris scared as hell. “Fuck he is!”, shouted Morgan. Matt tried his best to avoid Murphs hits. But they shattered the road we were driving on and a few times we almost fell off it. “Okay guys, hold on!”, shouted Matt, as he drove towards another crack in space. We saw sparks around our car as we dashed through the crack. We couldn’t see anything but a blinding white light. I held my arms before my face.
