Your mother was gone the next morning, she had told you last night that she would be gone. Recently your grandfather was in increasingly worse condition and he was moving into your house. Your mother and mama were going to help with his belongings. By the end of the day, you would be helping your grandfather move in.
For now, though you needed to go to Aoba Johsai to pick up your things. You brushed your hair and teeth then called to your brother, "Sora, I'm leaving."
You waited for him to acknowledge that you spoke, eventually, he grunted in reassurance and you were off. It was a cold foggy morning, you were headed to Aoba Johsai to pick up school books, your mama had called ahead of time letting the school know you that you would be there to pick up your things.
The lady at the counter said there would be other students milling around the school, preparing for the new school year. You wondered if you would see Oikawa-san there. After a surprisingly long walk, you made it. The school was clouded in less fog than before and you could see it a bit more clearly.
You gaped, the school was magnificent, it was large. You walked in then looked at the plants near the entrance. You snapped out of it, you weren't here to look at plants, you were hear to grab your books from your new school. After a while of searching, you found the entrance and went outside. You shivered, it was so cold outside and you had been outside searching for a while, maybe it hadn't been a good idea to wear this short-sleeved shirt in such cold weather.
You tried to warm yourself up by crossing your arms close to your chest. The school was massive, so many twists and turns to explore. An anxious had remained in your stomach this an entire time, but you tried to stay excited. Those twists and turns excited you but scared you at the same time. You signed to yourself, great, you were lost. Who knew how many floors this school had, and why wasn't the office on the first floor? You sighed to yourself again trying to regain composure.
Suddenly you heard a whiny voice behind you, "Iwa-chan! Wait up for me!" it said.
You turned around, it was Oikawa-san! You were so grateful to see him, maybe he could direct you to the office. You then had second thoughts, maybe you shouldn't bug him now. It looked like he was busy with his friend, and he had a duffel bag with him. You sighed sadly and walked swiftly, praying he wouldn't see you. You were successful you were about to turn the corner- "Y/n, is that you?"
You felt like he punched you in the stomach and you turned around sheepishly, "Ya..."
"What are you doing here?" asked Oikawa curiously.
"I'm starting school here! I apologize did I not tell you? I'm so sorry, are you mad at me?"
You closed your eyes to avoid his angry face but anger never came, he laughed, you opened your eyes confused, "Why would I be mad? Now we can all go to school together! Y/n this is Iwaizumi. Iwaizumi, this is y/n."
Iwaizumi waved quietly, you waved in return. You checked your watch, it was ten o'clock. Your eyes widened, you were thirty minutes late. "I'm so sorry to cut our introduction short, but I'm very late, and I still need to find the office." You bowed and were about to turn the corner when you quickly ran back to Oikawa breathlessly.
"O-oikawa-san, where's the office?"
"Go to the staircase at the end of the hall and it's on the second floor on your left, you can't miss it." Iwaizumi pointed out. You shook Iwaizumi's hand profusely and he looked at you bewildered before you ran to the end of the hall, up the stairs and skid across the floor before entering the office breathlessly.
You were filled with panic, as you bowed profusely. "I'm so sorry I was late, I slept in. I'm Y/n L/n and I need my textbooks for the upcoming school year."
The secretary tiredly got up to search to the backroom, as soon as she left you leaned against the wall and tried to collect your breath. You heard the doorknob to the backroom jiggle open as you quickly tried to regain composure before she entered the room. You were successful and she gave you a stack of books. "You're a second-year correct?" the secretary asked nonchalantly.
You nodded, and she gave you your textbooks. If you go to the library they can give you your uniform and ID card. You nodded and headed out of the office, where was the library? It was like you needed a map to this place. You go increasingly anxious you would never find the library at this point. Ten minutes had passed, and now you were outside. It looked like there was a gym and a separate building parallel to the gym. Now you started where you ended up, you groaned. You decided to explore the separate building, the stairs were steep and it felt like you were climbing a mountain.
Your books had been getting increasingly heavier as you carried them and you felt like giving up, but you couldn't come to school without a uniform or ID so you persisted. All the doors looked the same, but soon you heard a familiar voice, "Stop being so grumpy Iwa-chan! You need to cheer up."
"Okay, crappykawa." you heard Iwaizumi sneer.
You couldn't hear their conversation after that because they had walked down the stairs and looked like they were heading away from campus. You had occasionally seen other people mulling around but you didn't have the guts to approach them. You only knew Oikawa-san and now he was leaving with Iwaizumi-san. You needed to get their attention but didn't know-how.
Your stomach churned and you looked around frantically. You put down your books and dug through your pockets, all you had were your house keys. You wanted to throw them at him to get his attention but stopped- what if they got hurt. You would've yelled at them but you were told that your voice was too soft.
You panicked and threw your keys at the duo while attempting to yell out to them, "Oikawa, Iwaizaumi-san!" Your keys didn't hit them but the jingle it made your yelling, and the keys hitting Oikawa's shoe all grabbed their attention. You sighed so thankful they noticed you. You picked up your textbooks and walked as quickly as you could to the duo.
"C-could one of you p-please direct me to the l-library?" you stammered breathlessly, this was way more physical activity than you normally had.
Iwaizumi seemed speechless, "Of course, silly!" Oikawa said picking up your keys.
"Do you need help getting back to? You seem to get lost a lot..." Oikawa asked
Your eyes widened and you went red, you usually were really great at directions today just wasn't your day. "Tch, no."
"Are you sure?" asked Iwaizumi joining in, smiling. You thought about it, and after they told you where the library was you would be on your own. What if you got lost again and nobody was around to direct you on where to go. You chewed your lip thinking about it, but then realized you had gone quiet for too long.
"No, I'm not sure, but I'll find my way." You announced bravely. You all laughed and the two boys walked you to the library. It had been an eventful morning and you were glad you had company. After you got your uniform and ID card you thanked Iwaizumi and Oikawa-san profusely before going your separate ways.
