Chapter 9: Little White Lies

She blows out a deep breath.
"That was nobody important. Maybe you should go now." Okay, so obviously something's going on. IntEResTiNg. I may not know today, but I will know.
"Hey wait, we should hangout soon." She nods her head annoyingly. I leave her in her room, as she's currently clearly dazed and upset at the same time. I head down the stairs, where her mom is looking at me with a mean stare. Damn, I can't catch a break here...
"I asked you to tell her that I helped her!" Her mom was clearly annoyed.
"I did, I did." I surrender, clearly scared of her raised tone.
"Okay, so then what took you so long? Were you doing dirty business?" She asks very pissed. I'm not so sure if she's mad at me, Lea, or maybe even herself.
"No, we weren't. I just got lost." She reluctantly nods her head with a sigh and leads me to the couch. I fidget under her stare. Bro I'm just trying to cash in a dare, not be someone's therapist.
"I'm sorry for the outbreak. Lea's been terribly hurt before, and I was just taken on surprise seeing you walk out of her room after like 2 hours. I really would've scolded her if I knew she was randomly just giving out the rest of her heart to random guys." She sighed to herself. Wow, her mom really does care about her, that must be nice to be able to have.
"What happened?" Okay, that may have sounded a bit rude to ask, but of course naturally I'd be curious.
"She had an ex. They dated for a long time. They shared everything together, even their first kiss, they had also been best friends for a long time. They did so many other things together," She takes another deep breath and continues, "Then one day, Ja- I mean, her ex, did something that none of us could forgive. Lea didn't even know about it, only I did. She was heartbroken when I told her they had to breakup. She didn't, so I had to. To this day, she still doesn't know and continues to ignore me. You know how painful your first love can be, or at least, you will. She's still so secretive about everything..."
Before anything can get anymore awkward, I jump up from my seat and slowly start trying to pull away from the conversation. I swear you could cut the tension in the room with a knife.
"I'm gonna go. I have some, uh, stuff to do later. I'll see you some other time. Bye." She nods her head and I walk towards the front door. Just as I'm about to open the door, Lea's mom whispers,
"Thank you. If you like Lea, I approve it." I nod my head gratefully and flee the house. I guess I got parental approval??? That was too much.
I head home with my motorcycle and get a quick dinner on the way. When I arrive home, it's almost 11. I walk up the stairs, only to find several text messages from Megan.
