Katniss and Peeta's Life Continued

Chapter 10

The anthem pounds in my ears and Caesar Flickerman introduces himself. He is his same old cheerful self. Cracking jokes, laughing at his own, and getting the crowd ready for what will be "an eventful night". His natural brown hair is dyed in a neon green and the color matches lips with a touch of gold glitter shimmering off them. He dressed like Willy Wonka in vibrant purples and pinks and blues. The only thing normal about his strange attire is his shiny black pennyloafers.
"Welcome! Welcome! Tonight is a special night! We have my favorite star-crossed lover from District 12. We are going to get a sneak peek in the marriage life and I heard there is a little surprise awaiting." Caesar announces. A tall man grabs me and Peeta and leads us up to the steps that goes up to the glossy waxed stage that flickers with different colored lights.
"Let's welcome Katniss and Peeta Mellark to the stage!" That cues for me and Peeta's appearance on the stage.
I'm in a high-low strapless sparkly red dress and my hair is loosely secured in the back of my head in a bun with curly brown strands that hang in front of my face for extra softness. My shiny black high heels click on the hardwood floor. I give Peeta a smile as I look at his handsome outfit. A long-sleeve button down white shirt with a simple black tie. His creased black slacks and his buffed black shoes bring his whole outfit together. I love how Portia did Peeta's hair. She has left it natural by letting his blonde curls hang just above his eyes.
We meet Caesar at the center of the stage and shake his hand. Peeta and I gingerly place our self tightly next to each other and hold hands. Peeta and Caesar have their usual series of jokes and the crowd can't help but fall out of their seats laughing. Caesar glances over at me and finally acknowledges my existence.
"Now Katniss....tell us how you two are doing?" Caesar asks.
"Oh.....um....Jenny, our daughter, is five and is in kindergarden so....um, things are good," I answer half speaking to Caesar, half speaking to the audience.
"Tell us where Jenny is right now," says Caesar.
"She's at Haymitch's house probably getting spoiled by candy and cookies. I hope when I get home she's not drunk," I giggle. The crowd erupts into laughter.
"Oh....don't you just love this girl?" Caesar asks the audience. The crowd responds with hoots and hollers.
"Katniss.....I heard there was a surprise awaiting us tonight. Is that true?" Caesar questions.
"Um....no not really," I answer.
"Oh come on, your prep team seemed pretty enthused!" Caesar urges.
"It's okay Katniss.....can't really hide it anymore," Peeta says. He's right. By the time the baby is born, it won't be much of a secret anymore. For Jenny, everyone just saw me with her and made a conclusion. She was my daughter. The audience sit at the edge of their seats.
"Ok......well.....I'm pregnant," I confess. The crowd can't contain their excitement. They're even more excited than when Peeta I announced my fake pregnancy.
"This is very big news and I am so happy for you both!" Caesar exclaims.
"Thank you Caesar and we couldn't be happier. I love this girl and I am so proud of her as a wife and as a mother. I couldn't live without her," Peeta admits. The crowd coos and awes at Peeta's beautiful words. Peeta and words are like peanut butter and jelly. Perfect.
"Peeta, that is just too sweet," Caesar says. "Alright....I think that wraps up tonight! Stay tuned for more about these two lovebirds and we'll see you next time! I'm Caesar Flickerman goodnight everybody!" Peeta and I slowly stand up and blow kisses and wave to the crowd before the stage turns black.
