Kole and I were late to arrive at the restaurant. My dad and Charlotte were already waiting and they had done for twenty minutes already. I smiled apologetics towards Charlie before hugging my dad wishing him a happy birthday.

We both finished work late because a meeting ran over. Then Kole insisted he needed to take a shower before me. I skipped the shower and instead dressed into a black dress that were covered in small white shapes. It had off the shoulder straps and went mid-thigh. During the drive over Kole's hand rested on my thigh gently rubbing circles.

As he pulled in front of the restaurant he turned to look at me "for Christmas I am buying you ugly sweaters and long jeans."

I rolled my eyes removing my seatbelt "you may buy them for me it won't mean that I will wear them."

Anyway back to dinner, we all sat down at the table and the legal adults all ordered wine whilst I stuck to boring lemonade. Kole smirked at me from the corner of his eyes. I knew by looking at dad he was amused as well. I rolled my eyes huffing "I still think it is unfair that I can't drink."

Kole finally laughed out loud "do you want your lemonade in a wine glass?"

I rolled my eyes "it's beside the point. I'm many ways I am considered an adult but I can't vote, I can't drink yet I am expected to work and pay taxes."

My dad butted in "you can't drink in public, how about we go back home and I will pour you one."

Kole interrupted "or we can go back to mine place it is closer. You can see where Morgan is staying and I have a cella."

Dad nodded his head eagerly "Kolter, now I know why I have kept you around all of these years."

I looked between my dad and Kole for a few seconds utterly amused "wait a minute, Kole is your nickname. Your name is actually Kolter?"

Kole blushed deeply nodding "I swear my parents hated me. Ever since I was younger I went by Kole. There is a handful of people know now me by that."

I giggled "I so am calling you Kolter now. I absolutely love it."

Kole rolled his eyes looking straight at me as he took a sip from his wine glass. I ignored him turning to face my dad again "how has work been and living at home without me."

Dad laughed "really good. I have a new large client at work but I do t think this case is going to have a happy ending. I find having you out of the house has made my life easier and much more quiet."

I rolled my eyes dramatically "that is so a lie. Kolter commented the other day that he hardly even notices I am there."

Kole interrupted before dad could make a comeback "that was taken out of context. What I said was sarcastic. You are up late and then wake before me. You insist on making healthy smoothies each morning and make me more cleaner than necessary, especially at five o'clock in the morning."

I smiled up at him under my lashes "by you have enjoyed it?"

Kole nodded "up until you began to call me Kolter."

The conversation soon went to Charlotte when she told us what it was like working at the local hospital. Kole took care of the check before we drove back to Kole's place.

I took off my heels as soon as I walked through the front door leaving them on the chair inside my room. Kole lead us into the lounge room popping a bottle of champagne. He held his glass in the air "I toast to another you older, old man."

Dad laughed "you are only ten years younger."

I blushed as the math finally sunk in. There is ten years between dad and Kole and eleven years between Kole and I. This year Kole is turning thirty. I blush over to his as I assume he is having similar thoughts. I shrug it off taking a large sip of my own glass.

Dad and Charlotte end up staying the night in the second spare room. After an hour of laying in my own bed I sneak into Kole's bedroom. I quietly snuck up to his bed getting in beside him. He threw his blankets open letting me get in beside him. He kissed my temple as he pulled me into his arms "you can't spend the night here Morgan."

"I know but I wanted you to hold me for a little while." I spoke into his chest as he held me close.

I kissed along his jaw "I enjoyed myself tonight. I like Charlotte, I think my dad is going to propose soon."

Kole mumbled sleepily "mmm, he is."

I hit his chest trying to wake him up "what, is he actually?"

Kole nodded sheepishly "shit, your dad was meant to tell toy days ago. He wanted your permission first."

I laughed into his neck "I am happy as long as he is happy. Do you like Charlotte?"

Kole nodded "far better than your mother. They were bad together from the beginning. I tried to tell him. Even my brother would tell him that he could do better. Although, he got you from the relationships it was toxic."

I cuddled into his chest "I'm glad dad got me out of that bad experience. My parents are both great people but they always were able to bring the worst in each other."

Kole mumbled into my shoulder "go to sleep, we will need to be up early."

I cuddled into his chest instantly falling asleep. I woke the next morning to birds chirping outside the window. I woke with a rush waking Kole up. He swore as soon as he came to "we need to sneak toy out."

I nodded "sorry I didn't mean to fall asleep, can you go and distract my dad?"

Kole nodded "yeah just please make sure you don't get caught."

He threw a shirt over his head sneaking out the door to distract my dad. They were standing by the balcony as I came out, as I went to close the door I heard someone clear their throat. I looked over my shoulder to see Charlotte standing there with a cup of coffee in her hands.
