Zayn's POV:

Monday morning I picked KateLynn up and drove her to school. We were officially a couple. I walked into school that morning after kissing her goodbye; she had a drama club emergency. I went to my locker and wasn't shocked to see James, my friend since second grade, waiting for me. "We need to talk, dude." He told me, an edge to his voice. "Since when did you turn into a chick?" I joked. "This is serious man!"

"Alright, what's up?" I asked, truly concerned. "You're dating KateLynn? Man, come on! You know I've liked her longer!" He began to yell at me. I slammed my locker shut and turned to fully face him. "What the hell are you talking about? I've wanted to date KateLynn since we were eight;NINE YEARS James!" I yelled right back. He stayed silent. "She's my best friend, James. She has been since we met. You know I fell in love with her." I tried to reason with him. "I thought you were over her." He said quietly. "Why would you think that?" I asked. "Makayla?" Was all he said. My face instantly fell; guilt taking over me as I remember what happened over summer break.

(*Flash Back*)

Loud music, sweaty bodies, and alcohol. A normal high school party. The only problem? KateLynn wasn't here; she was on vacation with her family. I didn't even want to come tonight, but Maggie wanted me to. I came only to shut her up. I was depressed because KateLynn wouldn't be here. I walked in and grabbed the cup that Brandon offered me.

About ten cups later and I was dancing with Makayla Walsh. Next thing I know, she's making out with me. I grabbed her hips and pulled her closer. She pulled away a few minutes later and whispered in my ear,"Lets go upstairs." I followed her up the stairs and into a room. That's the last thing I remembered.

The next morning, I found out from James exactly what had happened. He said with what I remembered, it shouldn't be too hard to tell what else happened. I called Makayla to make sure my thoughts were correct. Thankfully, she wasn't drunk and remembered what went down.

She said we didn't do it; that she noticed I was drunk and didn't want to take advantage of me. I told her thank you and then I hung up. It's been awkward between us ever since.

(*End Flash Back*)

"Man, you know I was drunk that night. And besides, nothing happened." I reminded him. "Not that night. But what about the next night? Or the week after that? Dude, KateLynn was even back in town then." "Alright, so maybe I took her out a few times, but that doesn't mean I liked her." I tried to defend myself. "Whatever man. I gotta get to class, later." He told me as the bell rang.

I thought about my first period, English Lit. I wondered what we would be doing in there today. I shrugged my shoulders and walked in the opposite direction, deciding to skip today.
