Best Friends

Merry Christmas!

KateLynn's POV:

   Christmas Eve, baby! Maggie's throwing this huge party at her house and everyone's exchanging gifts! I cant wait to see Zayn's face when he opens his present. I'm wearing this red turtleneck dress with this beautiful brown belt. My white tights and brown boots complete the Christmas outfit. Gosh, I love this time of year!

Zayn's POV:

    I'm here at Maggies Christmas party, waiting on KateLynn to arrive. James still wont talk to me, he doesn't think I'm good enough for KateLynn. I know that he's wrong, but sometimes I worry if KateLynn agrees with him. I decide to push James from my mind, I'm supposed to be happy. Kristi and Lacy are sitting and gossiping about how Abby wasn't invited. Nicole is with Ali, listening to Alyssa go on about that Dean guy who has liked her for a couple of months. And Maggie is no where to be found, neither is Brandon. Should have known, they cant keep their hands off each other, even on Christmas.

    I'm nervous about what KateLynn will think of her gift. Will she love it like I love her? Will she hate it? I hope not.  The door blows open and in comes the girl who stole my heart. "Sorry I'm late! I hate traffic!" she yells from the front hall. I get up from my seat and walk towards her beautiful voice. "I've been waiting." I tell her as I lean in for a kiss. "And you're gonna have to wait a little bit longer, I'm afraid. I have got to put these presents down!" she says as she moves away from me and towards the living room. I sigh and follow her, only to be blocked by James. "You're not good enough for her. She deserves better, and she knows it." he sneers at me. I nod my head and go to leave the hallway when his arm shoots out and blocks my path. "You should just dump her, it would save you the heartache." I nod my head again, and this time I duck under his arm and walk towards the girl of my dreams, not giving a fuck about what my so called best friend thinks.

    When I get in, I see that Maggie and Brandon are back and everyone is welcoming KateLynn. I smile and walk towards her, "Can I get that kiss now?" I ask. She turns around and looks up with a devilish smile. "There's no mistletoe." she says with an amused look in her eyes. I nod my head and survey the room. I walk over to Lacy, who is conveniently standing under some Mistletoe. "Oh no you don't!" she yells as she runs out of the room. I smile and turn back to KateLynn, offering my hand. She takes it and I lead her to where Lacy was just standing. "Now?" I ask, hope brimming in my voice. She nods her head and stands up on her tiptoes as I lean down to meet her heavenly lips. "Ow!" yelled out Ali and Brandon shouted, "Get Some!" I smirked into the kiss and lowered my hands onto KateLynn's butt. "Whoa, Whoa, Whoa! Save some for the bedroom!" called out Lacy and Kristi. "Yeah, the only sticky white stuff I want to clean up tonight is spilt Egg Nog!" Maggie said. KateLynn pulled back and hid her face in my chest. I smiled and looked at Maggie, who just winked and mouthed What did I do? I rolled my eyes and kissed KateLynn on the cheek. "Why don't we open the presents now? " asked  James.

    KateLynn and I walked over to join the others around the Christmas tree. Maggie and  Brandon passed out the gifts and everyone drew a number to decide who got to go first. When it was KateLynn's turn, I waited patiently until my gift was the only one left wrapped. She always waited to open mine last and I don't know why. It was tradition, though. Her eyes lit up when she saw the little box wrapped in snow flaked paper. I watched as she ripped into the pretty paper and looked at the white box with black lettering on it. "Oh my gosh, Zayn!" she whispered. "Open it." I told her, looking into her big green eyes. She pulled the lid off and gasped. She reached inside and pulled out the necklace. "Its beautiful." she said, her voice cracking as her eyes filled with tears. In her hands was a silver cross with an emerald heart in the center hanging from a black leather chain. "Put it on." urged Maggie.  She was the only one who had known what KateLynn's gift was. I showed her after I bought it, hoping she could tell me that I was right in picking it out. KateLynn slid the necklace over her head and then kissed me. "Thank you!" she whispered after she had pulled away.

      I smiled at her and said, "I love you." she smiled back and replied, "I love you, too. So, so much." The room erupted into 'awes' and KateLynn and I hugged each other. It was now my turn to open presents and I saved KateLynn's for last. When it was finally the last one, I grabbed her hand and ripped open the package. Now it was my turn to gasp. Inside the plain red paper was a note taped to a picture frame. The note said, 125 Maple Drive. Dec. 26 at 6:00 p.m. I looked up to KateLynn with a confused look on my face. She just said, "You'll get your real present then." She then looked at Maggie who rolled her eyes. I shook my head and looked back at KateLynn. She was smiling at me, her eyes pleading me not to press the subject anymore than I already had and I nodded, silently obeying her wish. "Now what?" asked Nicole, since everyone had opened everything. We all looked to Maggie, our hostess, who looked at the clock. "Two minutes 'till Christmas. Lets wait it out." she said, plopping down next to Brandon. I helped pick up at Maggie's before leaving. My family and I had celebrated Christmas earlier so that I could spend Christmas Day with KateLynn. I love her family almost as much as I love her.

KateLynn's POV:

    Christmas Eve was amazing. I don't think I'll ever take off the necklace Zayn got me. I know he's really confused about his gift, but I honestly think its worth the wait. I hate that I had to go behind his back in order for this to work, but I want him to be happy. The doorbell suddenly rings and Im pulled out of my thoughts. I run downstairs, pulling open the front door to see my cousin Rachel. "Hey!" we shout in unison. I pull her into a hug and we start to talk about all that has happened since Thanksgiving. "What's that?" she asks, pointing to my neck. "Oh, its what Zayn got me." I say, holding up the cross so she can see it better. "Oh girl! Why cant I have a boyfriend as sweet and amazing as him?" she says, rolling her eyes and sighing. " You will, Rachel. You just have to wait. And im not that sweet." says Zayn from behind us. "Zayn!" Rachel yells as she runs to give him a hug. "Rachel!" he yells back as he picks her up and spins her around. They break out into a fit of giggles as he walks to me. I kiss him and smile when we pull away. "Merry Christmas, baby." he says. "Merry Christmas!" I reply, looking into his beautiful brown eyes.

   Maybe this year I wont be sad on Christmas,

Maybe I'll have a happy holiday.

Replace my heartache and my pain

With mistletoe and Candy Canes.

This Christmas will go my way!

"Oops!" Rachel said as her phone blared Shane Dawson. I rolled my eyes and laughed with Zayn as everyone filed in my living room to open the remaining gifts. This Christmas, my aunt Kim and Uncle Chuck got to come in from Florida. Everyone laughed and ate and had a great time. My family loves Zayn almost as much as I do! I cant wait until tomorrow night, I know Zayn will love it!
