"This is where you'll be staying. For now, we will have the door locked. The bathroom is right over there so you don't have to leave the room when you need to use it. This will be temporary, only until we know we can trust that you won't run away. We will come and visit throughout the day and night so you won't be in solitude. Your meals will also be brought to you periodically as necessary as well as clothes and cleaning staff. Occasionally, we may take you out of your room for a walk or talk but you cannot, under any circumstance, leave the room alone until we give the okay. To prevent extreme danger in the case of an emergency, someone will be with you every second of every day. This will most likely be me, Jungkook, one of your maids, or cleaning staff. You do have a butler to do tasks you may not complete in regards to risking the ignorance of the rule stating you may not leave the room. You will have no contact with the butler directly. Instead, you tell your maid what you need from the butler and she will relay your message to him, then relay his message to you and so on. Any questions?" Hyunjin explained how I will be living for a while. I started to cry harder during his explanation. I didn't know why they were doing this. They were taking every ounce of freedom I had away from me. The amount of power they had over me was driving me insane at that point, knowing they could do anything they wanted to me and suffer no consequences was terrifying. Hyunjin then walked out and Jungkook came in.
"Why are you doing this to me? Why? What did I do to you that beckoned a revenge such as this? Did I even do something to you at all?" I stared at him, his eyes burning into mine. He walked behind me to open the curtains and stared out the window, thinking carefully about his response, before he turned back to me and we took the same position as Hyunjin and I were in earlier.
"In another life. We've met again now and I'll be sure to make sure history doesn't repeat itself." I had no idea what he meant but it felt like the least of my worries at that point. I scanned the room for something that would give me any clue regarding my escape or the reason I was brought here. Anything that could tell me something they weren't, I found nothing. The room was made up of different shades of gold and red, mostly maroon. It looked like something straight out of a kingdom's decor magazine.
"What are you guys going to do to me though? Nobody has answered my question. And, not to state the obvious or anything, but usually when people are kidnapped, things happen to them, things like death. Are you guys going to kill me?" The one thoughts I've had since the beginning. I was positive I would die. It was the only outcome that made sense to me at the time. He walked out of my room after I spoke. This was just as good of confirmation to me as it would have been if he had plain out said it.
"Who are you?" I questioned the woman who walked into my room and interrupted my thoughts. She looked in my direction.
"I'm sorry, I would have introduced myself sooner if I had known someone was in here. I'm Maria, your main caretaker while you're here, besides the Misters. I will provide you with help for anything and with supplies such as clothes, soap, blankets, anything else you can think of. My other job is to assist you in getting ready and let you know when to shower and if you should wash your hair, things like that. But, as of now, that's not very relevant since you won't be meeting with them outside of the room. Are there any more questions you have for me, Miss?" She spoke in a sweet, soft voice. She had some motherly presence to her which must have been a tactic Hyunjin and Jungkook used to make me feel more comfortable. She was about two inches shorter than me and had short, dark brown hair that was pulled to the back into the smallest ponytail I'd ever seen. She wore a gray, blue, and white uniform that consisted of a dress, apron, and bonet. It looked like she had her own shoes on as they had initials stitched into the side and looked quite worn compared to the rest of her outfit. I had thoughts about asking her if she knew what they were planning on doing with me, but I didn't want to provoke anymore restrictions on myself if my questions were prohibited.
"Is something on your mind, Miss?" She walked a bit closer to me, allowing her faint scent of perfume and baked goods to introduce itself to me. She was the fairytale maid, someone you read about in stories during your childhood and wished you had them in your life. The perfect recipe to comfort someone in a stressful condition such as myself.
"Yes." I wondered if she was even aware of my kidnapping or if she was under the impression that I was just a guest. If she didn't know and I had told her, would that bring her into all of this trouble as well? I couldn't wish that on someone else, especially not if she's only doing her job in keeping me well.
"Perhaps a warm bath would calm you down. Shall I draw one for you, Miss?" She started to make her way to the bathroom door before I responded. I just nodded to myself as she wouldn't have been able to see with her back facing me. I followed behind her into the bathroom. There was pink marble covering the room and tub with golden accessories and accents. Any appliances were also gold and pristine, fitting the theme of the rest of the bathroom and bedroom. It was, at first, astonishing to see such a beautiful sight though that was a fleeting thought in comparison to my situation. When the tub was done running, she came out and stood in the entry to the bathroom, motioning for me to go inside. I followed her request and walked to the bathroom.
"Thank you." I said quietly. I waited for her to leave but she just stood there looking at me. I wondered what she was doing and soon grew very impatient with it.
"I'm going to take a bath now. You may leave." I tried to say it with the least amount of disrespect but it ended up sounding extremely awkward.
"I have directions to help you get in. I am not allowed to leave until you are in, washed up, and then out. After that, I will notify one of the two Misters and they will come stay in the room with you. Only then will I be able to exit. My apologies, Miss." I realised that meant I had to undress in front of her. I shook my head and went back to my bed to lay down.
"I'm sorry, Maria, but I'm not comfortable with being undressed in front of someone. I think I'll be going to bed now." I closed my eyes and tried not to think about the situation anymore. I was tired and stressed and the last thing I needed was to overthink, although, looking back, it'd be pretty hard to overthink your kidnapping.
"Miss, I have to make sure you get yourself cleaned off tonight." Maria came to me. I just wanted everything to go away.
"Why? I'm clean already." I mumbled to the wall I was facing. I assumed she wouldn't hear anything I said as I wasn't facing her and I talked pretty quietly. I didn't really care much for what was said and done here. Whether she knew it or not, I had been going through an awful change and I was in no way obligated to be polite.
"I have orders from the Misters. Please, Miss, it is not possible for me to disobey their orders. And, while I don't want to force you to do anything, I must make sure you are bathed. I would not like to have to call the Misters for the sake of both of us." Her voice sounded a little scared, as if she was desperately pleading with me to save herself from something.
"Their orders should mean as little as nothing. They mean less than that to me." I was getting fed up with whatever dumb "power" they feel that they have over me. We were completely on the same level before, acting stupid with each other like friends. They are normal people who seem to have a messed up view of how things should be between them and I and the last thing I'm going to do is listen to their command as if I'm their dog.
"I'm afraid I have no choice then. If you will not comply with my asking then they will come in. I hope for your sake, my dear child, that they are not too harsh."
