While I sat on my bed looking out the window Brian came in and spoke to me.

"Can I ask you something?" He asked. I didn't look away from the window.

"Yes." I replied.

"Back then, did you use drugs?"

I guess when Detective Wich said my parents were here he really meant they were watching.

"Yeah." I answered. "Just a little bit. Not enough to get addicted."

"Why?" He asked.

"I had to go with whatever my client was doing if I wanted to get paid." I said.

Brian took a pause.

"I'm sorry." He said.

I shook my head.

Once again everything moved forward. Went to school, saw Evie and Indra, went home, went to school, saw Evie and Indra, went home.

Same cycle it's all very tedious.

On a Friday Indra snagged Evie and I and took us to a café.

We ordered milkshakes, coffee, and other sugary products.

I sat slouched over with my hand on my cheek and rolled a tiny sugar crystal around the plate.

I heard Evie sigh, "you're bored again."

"Mm." I grunted.

"I wonder why that happens so quickly." Evie said.

I didn't say anything. I glanced at Indra. He sat perfectly still and grinned at us with narrow eyes.

"You won't eat the cinnamon bun?" I asked him.

"I've never had something so sugary."

I smiled.

"Try it." I encouraged. Indra hunched his shoulders and picked up the cinnamon bun and took a bite.

He gasped deeply and sucked in his cheeks as one eye partially closed.

"Oh." I said. Evie cringed and covered her mouth. Indra let out a sharp exhale.

I leaned forward and reached for the bun, "maybe that's enough."

"Mm!" He grunted as he turned his body away from me.

I sat back.

Indra turned and put the bun on the plate. "It's not...bad." He said in a small voice, covering his mouth. "Just really sweet."

"Okay..." Evie and I sighed.

She leaned against the table, "it's been a long time since we've all sat like this. Had a conversation."

"So...let's share interesting facts with each other!" She grinned widely.

Indra looked at her confused. She sipped on her iced coffee.

"I once did a line of coke off a guy's dick."

Coffee came out of Evie's nostrils and the two turned to me with their mouths open. I tilted my head and smiled briefly.

"Wow. You really went for it." Evie said. "Just, said the first thing that came to mind." She wiped her nose and coughed.

"So how did that work? Did you snort for a while?" She asked. Haha. A bit curious, are we?

"Honestly I was tripping for a while." I said.

I looked at Indra. He was still looking at me like that was the craziest thing I did.
