As soon as Marley caught up to Mike - Max trailing a little bit behind her - she took over in managing Eleven, the girl whimpering and weeping as her leg continued to burn with greater pain than before. She shouldn't have strained it. They were lucky really, that Marley had somehow manifested powers. Her super strength made looking after Eleven easier as it lessened the amount the girl used her injured leg, not to mention the number of times the girl had saved them from possible detrimental situations."Are you two ok?" Mike whispered to her, Marley looked up at him, a flicker of shock dancing across her face before she smiled and huffed.
"And here I thought you didn't like us together."
"Well, now that you--"
"Don't ruin it Frog Face," Marley sighed, holding Eleven closer to her as they made it outside, the bitter cold sending a shiver down the injured girl's frame that translated to Marley's own body.
"I was kidding, she makes you happy. That's worth having to witness you two make out when we're supposed to be hanging out together," Mike chided, adding a snide little dig into his comment.
"You ditch us for El continuously," Marley bit back playfully and then glanced over her shoulder, her eyes raking over Max who looked torn and anxious. "To answer your question though..." she turned back to look at the gate in front of them, "I don't...I don't really know."
"You'll be ok," Mike assured, pressing down the button that would slide back the metal wall blocking their escape. Marley bit her lip, she honestly wasn't so sure what Mike had said was correct. This wasn't because she was scared Max was going to break up with her but because she herself was considering breaking up with Max. Not because she didn't love her, that was exactly the problem.
Marley loved Max so much she didn't want to put the girl through the pain of being with such a self-destructive person, her parents were bound to send her away after this too. She didn't want to hold Max back from being with other people while she was away for god only knew how long, no matter how much it hurt at the thought of Max being with someone else. On the other hand, Marley wanted nothing more than to stay with the redhead, even through all of their obstacles and challenges. Either way, it would hurt. A whole fucking lot.
The gate clicked open and Marley felt a hand on her shoulder, she turned to see Mike smiling at her soft and understandingly, before it shifted to something more urgent, "Let's go, we need to get out of here."
"Right," Marley nodded and then turned back to her girlfriend - Max, turned back to Max, "Max, can you drive for us?"
"Yeah...yeah, o-of course!" Oh, who was Marley kidding? There was no way she could do it. No way she could break up with her. A small smile quirked at the corner of her lips and she nodded thankfully.
"Hate to break it to you but we don't have a car," Mike reminded and Marley went back to all smiles, turning to him with a cheeky grin.
"I may or may not know how to hotwire a car," She told, but, as Marley Harrington's unlucky streak would have it, the sound of coughing and grunting fell upon her ears. Dragging hers and the other twos attention over to the burning blue Camaro that just so happened to belong to the one and only Billy Hargrove.
"Shit..." Max muttered.
"Oh for fuck sake..." Marley whined.
"Go, go, go, go, go!" Mike ordered, slapping at Marley's arms to get her running but the girl stopped halfway there, turning to stare over at the gate and the limping Billy Hargrove just before it.
"Marley..." Max warned and Marley looked over at her, bit her lip, handed Eleven to Mike and sprinted with all the strength she could muster, the fatigue of the sleepless consecutive days gone with only one goal in mind. "Marley!"
