Once again Marley found herself and the rest of the group stuck within the confines of a car, Nancy's car of course, for it was the only one large enough to house them all but no matter how clean or how nice it smelled, Marley could not wait to get to the boathouse. Especially considering the massive migraine she was harbouring, she'd used up the rest of those painkillers Mrs Henderson had given her almost three days ago, when she'd initially felt the comings of a headache back at Victor Creel's house.
Now she was simply left to sit in quiet pain as Robin went on some rant about Vecna being in the Upside Down and the boys, who'd been banished to the back, snacked rather loudly on Eddie's potato chips. The only noise she readily welcomed was the sound of Kate Bush singing to her right. That could and would stay because it was actually helping someone. Helping Max for that matter.
She sunk further into her seat and sighed, cradling her head in her hands as she groaned and grimly pondered on who had died the night prior, though she didn't dwell on that for long. Rather, she found she couldn't, her brain so befuddled by the pain she couldn't hope to process anything.
"I'm just saying, you know, not to be a wimp but can I maybe sit in the car for this visit 'cause this is gonna totally and royally suck," Robin continued in the front, pleading to the profile of Nancy's face as the girl tried to drive.
"It'll be fine," Nancy replied. They were getting closer and closer to the boathouse and Marley really was trying to hold out on shouting at Robin but her patience was really starting to wear very very thin.
"I just can't stand to see those dull eyes of Eddie's break again," Robin muttered, looking into her lap, "I really, really can't."
"At least he can drink himself into feeling better," Steve added unhelpfully, waving the six-pack of beers around so that they rattled awfully. He offered Marley a quiet apology when the girl looked at him miserably.
"That's what my mom does," Max said idly and Marley turned that miserable look on her, letting it slip to something genuinely concerned. She reached out and gently knuckled the girl's shoulder, smiling assuringly when Max shot her a brief glance.
"Why don't we just give it a trial run?" Robin began again and Marley let out a low agonised whine, sinking further into her seat. "'Hey, Eddie. Uh, good news first this time. We got you some Dustin-approved junk food and that six-pack you requested.'"
Now, usually, Marley absolutely loved it when Robin rambled, it was always the most amusing thing and she really really loved her for it because it was just something so totally Robin but by God, what Marley wouldn't give for five minutes of quiet after the night they've had.
"Robin..." Marley mumbled.
"'Oh yeah and we found Vecna," Robin dutifully continued, undeterred or completely oblivious to Marley's ire. "Bad news is that he's in that other, darker, much scarier dimension that we told you about --'"
"Robin."
"'-- and the gate's closed, so we have no way of getting to him.'" Marley glanced over at Max at Robin's words, frowning slightly at the look upon her face before turning back to the front, sitting straighter now with her brows furrowed, "'like he's entirely shut off to us, so basically you're screwed. And, no, no, I know you were already screwed, but now you're like doubly! Triply! Screwed!"
"Robin!" Marley snapped and the girl turned to look at her, looking instantly apologetic, "please stop talking or at least speak slower, ok? Though you're right about one thing, I also can't deal with the thought of Eddie's dull eyes breaking, it's almost like looking in a goddamn mirror."
