Marley was on food duty, a job bestowed upon her by the still slightly pissed redhead that was her girlfriend. It wasn't like she was going to refuse and it did give her time to think up an apology to the girl. At least, she'd have liked to be able to, but the blasting music coming from Eleven's room overlapped by Max's singing was not helping. 'Angel' was usually one of her favourite songs but right now she just wanted it to shut up.
Giggles came from the room and Marley huffed out a sigh, staring at the toaster as the Eggo's heated up, waiting for them to pop so she could get back to her girlfriend.
"Max...I'm sorry about what happened at the mall..." Marley recited, pacing back and forth in the kitchen, "I just want you to know...I didn't realise or feel Lucy's hand - No, nope that's an excuse...um..." she groaned, "I'm sorry and I...I love--nope we're not doing that."
The eggos popped up from the toaster but Marley paid no mind to them, her thoughts drowning out any sounds that met her ears. This was way harder than she had expected and very nerve-wracking apparently, her palms had grown sweaty and a pit of anxiety had formed in her gut. What if she didn't accept the apology? What if she dumped her ass? The 'what if''s were dangerous. Very, very dangerous.
No amount of books on relationships could have repaired Marley for the raw emotions having a girlfriend entailed, she was usually great with Max, found she agreed on every word that left the redhead's mouth but lately she had felt their relationship wasn't progressing enough. Not because of Max, no way, but because of her and her emotionally constipated self. Max would wait, that was a fact Marley was certain of, she just hadn't known how long and now that the Lucy incident had happened she realised it wasn't a case of when anymore, it was a case of now.
"Mars!" Marley looked up and turned to Max, "I...I mean, Marley. El's gonna spy on the boys, where's the food?"
"Right, sorry," Marley nodded, grabbing the burning hot Eggo's from the toaster and putting them on a plate, she quickly turned back to Max and followed her back into Eleven's room. The static of the radio and Eleven's blindfolded self met Marley as she walked in and Max took the eggos from her sitting down on Eleven's bed her feet only just touching the ground.
An adoring smile flitted across Marley's face and she bit her tongue, stopping herself from making a joke about the girl's height, she opted to just sit beside her legs, staring over at Eleven with a barely contained smile.
"I see them," Eleven stated.
Max leant forward coming off of the bed and crouching in front of Eleven "What are they doing?"
"Eating," Marley hummed, knowing her twenty dollars charity had definitely contributed to their snacks, "They say we are species."
"What?" Marley snorted.
"Emotion not logic," Eleven added, Max went wide-eyed.
"What?"
"God no wonder they can't get stable long term relationships," Marley whispered, earning a chuckle from her Red, she glanced over at her hopefully, only to find the girls smile gone as quickly as it came.
Eleven suddenly ripped her blindfold off, startling the two, "What happened?" Max asked. Eleven grinned before breaking out into a fit of laughter and falling over, "What? What happened?" Max said again through laughs, soon joining in on Eleven's infectious laughter. Marley just stared over at them with a smile and chomped down on an eggo, chewing monotonously and letting a sigh out through her nose.
The sound of a car pulling up stopped their laughter and Eleven scrambled to turn the radio back to a normal frequency, 'Lovergirl' played instead and Marley nodded her head to the beat, watching as Max and Eleven both grabbed a magazine and got to flipping through it inconspicuously.
