It was the day of the kickback and I could not wait. My outfit seemed pretty casual to me. I decided on wearing a white tube top paired with a jean jacket and black pants with two slits near the knee. It showed a little skin, but not too much.

As I started packing my sleeping bag, memories from yesterday's dinner replayed in my head.

Did we really almost kiss?
I tried to act like I didn't notice, even though I engaged first.
Maybe she didn't notice.
Maybe I was just hallucinating. 
She probably forgot about it. Hopefully.
I didn't want the party to be awkward between us.

Once I finished packing my bag, my phone ringed. It was Kenneth. I needed to talk to him. I sighed and answered the phone.

"Before you start, listen Kenny. We really need to talk about everything that happened. I need to get everything off of my chest as well as you do. I can't meet today, but tomorrow if you're not doing anything, I'll come over."

"Okay.. that's actually what I called about. I'm free tomorrow between twelve and two."

"Okay, I'll see you around one."

"Alright, Bye Toni."

"Bye." I hung up.

I knew exactly what I needed to say to him. Over the days of us not communicating, I finally gathered my thoughts and emotions.

As I made my bed, I decided to text Janet.

"Good afternoon, please let me know if you need me to bring anything. Hope your day is going well."

That didn't seem so bad right?

A few moments later, she responded.

"Toni, come as you are! The only thing that you need to bring is a sleepover bag. :)"

Did she mean what I thought she meant?

I had two hours before the kickback started. Gil and Kayla came early to help set up.

"Kayla, we didn't forget. How was it having Trent take you home?" Gil said as he placed a few sleeping bags in my living room.

"Actually.. Janet can I talk to you for a second?" She said.

"Oh girl, you can say it in front of Gil." I chuckled.

"Well, remember how you said you weren't feeling him? I think i'm feeling a little something. It's too early to tell but, that man is something different girl."

"Kayla, you know he's coming tonight right? It'll be perfect for y'all to get to know each other."

"Especially when we play our little games." Gil cut in.

"You think he'll be down to get to know me?" Kayla asked as she began helping Gil.

"Well, maybe I can talk to him and get it going." I said unsurely.

"Well, what if he doesn't find interest in me?"

"No no, i'm sure he will. Just be yourself tonight."

Once we finished setting up, I went upstairs to get ready. Hopefully, Toni would accompany me in my bed tonight, only if she didn't want to stay downstairs with the kids.
