Thanks for reading. This part is a little short, but it's better than nothing. So I present to you Part 7 of The Challenge of Love. I wrote two endings to this story so if you want I will post them both. First we have to get to the tragedy in this story.

I woke up to find that Joey was still here. “Joey, wake up.” I whispered. “You fell asleep.”

“Oh no! Please tell me that it’s not morning.” He said as he shot up in panic and reached for his phone that was under his pillow. His expression turned from confused to frighten. “I’ve been caught being home late at least 3 times this week, and I’ve been caught a bunch of times this month. My parents have run out of punishments. What will they do this time?” He asked himself as he put his face in the palms of his hand.

“I’m sorry it’s entirely my fault.” I said quietly. I knew he wouldn’t let me take the blame. I didn’t even bother trying to get him to admit it was my fault.

“I’m sorry Maya, but I have to go. I’ll call you with the update about how much trouble I got in this time.” He said as he got up and grabbed his shoes. “Bye Maya.” The door closed behind him.

I was left behind and was still in the clothes from the day before. I grabbed my phone and called Layla. I needed her here. After all I just got my first boyfriend in a lot of trouble.

“Hey Maya, what do you need?” Layla said when she answered the phone. I was in tears and I didn’t want to sound too upset. Sadly there was no way to hide the pain in my voice.

“I need you Laya. Can you come over as soon as you can?” I asked.

“I will be right there hun. I will grab some breakfast sandwiches from McDonalds for you.” She said. She knew exactly what I needed when I didn’t even say anything about food.

“Thanks Layla, I love you. See you soon.” I said.

“No problem Maya, I love you too hun. See ya!” She said and she hung up the phone. I got up and went upstairs and changed into a sweatshirt and skinny jeans. I put my hair up in a messy bun. I walked back downstairs, and the door opened and Layla walked inside. She never knocked or rang the doorbell she would just walk in. This was her second home. When she wanted to get away from her parents, or just wanted to come over she was welcome.

“I’m here!” Layla said as she walked in and kicked off her shoes. She set the bag of food on the counter, and ran over to me. She gave me a big hug. When she let go she automatically asked, “What’s wrong Maya?”

“It’s all my fault.” I said softly, but still loud enough for her to hear. I felt my eyes fill with tears again. A tear fell from my face and hit the ground bellow me.

“Are you pregnant?” Layla asked trying to sound serious. If I wasn’t her best friend I would’ve thought she was serious. I knew she was trying to cheer me up, but today it wasn’t working.

“No, but Joey did spend the night last night.” I said sadly. I knew it didn’t seem bad, but to me it was horrible. After all it did get him in trouble.

“Woah girl, you know that’s not appropriate.” She said, trying to get me to laugh once again. She smiled pleased with the response.

“It wasn’t on purpose, but I may have got him in a lot of trouble. His dad has been on his case lately, and now he doesn’t know what his dad will think.” I said shamefully. I wanted to sit in a corner, and hug my knees and cry.

“It’s not your fault Maya. Don’t blame yourself for everything that goes wrong.” Layla said.

Suddenly my phone vibrated. I looked down to see it was an incoming call from Joey.
