It been a few hours since I arrived at the hospital. I skipped breakfast and lunch, and my stomach was aching. I tried to hide the fact I was hungry so they wouldn't make me leave.
"Joey you haven't ate all day. Go downstairs and get something to eat at the cafeteria. You must be starving." Layla said as she set her hand on my shoulder. I looked at her and she had an encouraging smile across her face.
"I don't want to leave her. She might leave me if I do. I can't do that to her Layla. I just can't do it." I said as I looked away from Layla and looked at Maya's pale face. I wanted her eyes to open and see me. There were still dark circles around her eyes from the crying she had done earlier the day when she was still concious.
"I know that this is hard for you, but starving yourself won't help her. If she wakes up and you are in the hospital fopr starving yourself. What good would that do to her? Please just go downstairs and eat." Layla said in a stern voice. Deep inside I knew she was trying to stay strong. She wasn't going to last any longer.
"Okay, I will go eat. Please just call me if anything goes wrong, or if she wakes up." I said as I walked over to Maya. "Maya I will be back. I will never leave you, I will always come back. While I'm gone please don't leave me. Also Maya, I love you." I said and I turned to the door. I froze before walking out and looked back at her, I felt a warm tear fall down my face. I turned back away, and closed the door behind me.
"Joey what are you still doing here?" A familiar high pitched voice asked. I looked over to see Autumn.
"I have been here all day for a very special person. I am just going to get something to eat. Do you want to come with me?" I asked her.
"Yeah!" She said excitedly. She ran up to me and grabbed my hand. We walked down the hallway together. She was singing All The Pretty Little Horses.
"Who is the special person you are here for?" She asked when she was done singing. We entered the Caferteria. We each grabbed a sandwich and a bottle of water.
"She was a girl I really like." I said trying to make it simple. When she heard it her eyes lit up.
"Is she pretty?" She asked.
"Absolutely beautiful! I would just look into her bright blue eyes and I would feel like I found the one thing I have been searching for. She has the most beautiful hair. It flows perfectly around her face. I loved the way her cheeks turned red when she talked to me. Her smile was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. It would light up the room." I said as I smile, and blushed a little.
"Do you love her?" She asked looking up at me with innocent eyes.
"Yes. I do and I would do anything to make help her get better. She is my life, and without her I am nothing." I said as I looked down at my sandwhich, and thought back to the night under the stars.
