Chapter 12: The Punishment

Mina's POV

I couldn't concentrate on the next few days after finding out from Nayeon what happened. Tzuyu came back to the party to face her father's wrath. What was she thinking? Is she crazy? Or maybe she meant to really upset her father and just use me. Good for her then. She must have fulfilled her purpose.

But whatever reason I compress into my mind I knew I have a mistake. The situation didn't come into this if I I just being careful. Punishment. What punishment does Nayeon means? I really feel that her cousin has planning something. I know there is something hidden behind those venomous smile. Maybe she just lying. But knowing the Chou's and their bizarre family, what she says must be possible.

I decided to go to Tzuyu's house that day. It would be better to see if she was still alive or if I still have a help to expect from her. If this situation continues, our contract won't end.

When I had finished all my classes, I immediately wait for a taxi oustide the campus. While in the taxi I remembered where did Tzuyu lived. I told the address to the taxi driver. He just stared at me from the reviewer mirror. I noticed that he wondered what's my purpose from that area. But instead of asking questions, he went kept driving and just keep silent.

It took about half an hour before the car stopped. I peeked out the window. We were on a street surrounded by tall trees. It grows neatly and evenly along the road. It's look like we're on a private property. If I'm not mistaken this is like the way to Tzuyu's mansion. Secluded. Many trees. The road is narrow.

"Where here, Miss." The driver said. "I can past on the hoof of this property. It's already private."

He point the road in front of us. I watched it. I still have to walk a few hundred meters just to get to the end. I couldn't help but let a sigh. Rich people with this rich ass properties. I went down after paying. As soon as the car left the quiet surroundings wrapped around me.

I noticed that the place is very secluded just now. I was too occupied with me annoyance with Tzuyu the first time she brought me here. Thate why I didn't notice the things like this. I started walking. The sky was dark and the rain was about to pour. I have no intention of staying longer in this place. I just want to know if our contract still has a destination.

A few minutes passed before I reached the front of the gigantic gate and wall of her house. Unlike the Chou family mansion that has a family name engraved on the property gate, her there is almost no design. It's a black smooth steel. The walls are bare. The only trees around are the one who give color to the area.

I pressed the doorbell. No one answered. Supposed to be it was already being open by a butler or guard. But it was very quiet around.  Where is the people? For the fifth time I knew that even if I pressed it all day, no one would answer. I tried to knock on the gate. I didn't expect it to open when I pushed.

I went inside and closed the gate behind me again. The sound of it are the only one that breaks the silence of the place. I glanced at the mansion in front of me. Until this day I still can't help but marvel. This mansion is really huge. It's a shame that it's only being wasted by someone like Tzuyu that coming home just to home a girl and a boy.

I  knocked on the front door. I wonder that I didn't see any people here like teh first time. Where are the maids? The silence was deafening. This place is too big to be so quiet. Now I'm not even sure if there's someone here.

"Hello?" I call inside the mansion. Even the front door is carelessly unlocked. "Is anyone here?"

The only respond I got is the sound of a lone bird outside the window. I took a deep breath. I know I should probably get going. I might be accused for trespassing for what am I do. But I know something is wrong here. The sight, the empty mansion, the silence, it's unsettling. Was this all part of the punishment Nayeon is talking about? In the middle of the silence I heard a noise. It's light and you can't notice it if it's just too quiet around.
