You guys got me to 1K votes over all. Here have another chapter today on me. My treat. :) enjoy.

*********

Pete had finally driven me home. But only so I could grab my car. My licence had been confirmed and I was so happy to be able to drive myself around. Good timing with Nick in the state that he was in.

I push Nick's wheelchair through the corridors as he holds onto some crutches across his lap.

"Ha ha suck it hospital!" Nick turns around and sticks his middle finger up. I turn slightly red as some people stare. I slap him on the shoulder.

"Stop it, else I'll leave you at the side of the road" I laugh pushing him through the double doors.

"Ahh you could never do that" he grins tilting his head back so he could see me. He had spent a week in the hospital and it was strange to see him back in his usual baseball cap. I could've snuck it away when he wasn't looking and cleaned it, it must of been a nicer colour at one point but now it was just dirty.

"I could" I smile at him as I look down, pushing him towards the car.

"But you wouldn't"

"Maybe not, depends if you piss me off or not." I approach the car and open the front door for him.

"You might need to help me with this" he smirks. I take his hand and hold onto his back as he hops up. A metal cage was on his leg to hold it in position. He must've been cold now he had decided it would be easier for him to wear shorts all of the time.

He uses one of his hands and rests it on my back to lever himself upwards. The other hand was on a crutch to balance him. He gently lowers himself in the car as I help him. He puts his crutches in the back seat.

"You alright?" I ask him pushing the wheelchair away from the car and leaning in the doorway.

"Yeah, I'm good. Its going to be weird with you driving and all." He admits. I lean into the car to kiss him, he kisses me back gently, I missed this.

"It won't be weird, it'll be fun. I won't crash the car." I joke with a bit of dark humor. He gives me a harsh look.

"Oh very funny"

I shut the car door and walk around to the drivers seat. To be perfectly honestly I was a little nervous about driving Nick home, I didn't want him to ironically hurt his other leg due to my mistakes at driving. I start up the car and drive off.

"Its going to be fine" Nick reassures me as I drive. He could probably see me shaking. I nod but I continue to drive. I wanted to concentrate on the road more than a conversation. I think he understood as he stayed silent the entire way back to his.

I get him out of the car and watch him in case he falls whilst hobbling around on his crutches. We walk up the pathway and into his house where Pete was waiting.

Pete had made sure everything Nick needed was upstairs so he didn't have to keep going up and down them. Me and Pete watch him get up the stairs, to stay there for the next week or so. He climbs into his bed and I take his crutches off of him allowing him to relax.

"Pete, thanks for getting me a beautiful maid for my recovery." Nick smirks towards me and glances at his uncle.

"I'm not your maid" I confirm laughing at him.

Pete just shakes his head and laughs as he walks out of the room. I sit on the end of his bed giving him a warm smile.

"You can go home now, rest" he orders.

"Do you want me to go home?" I ask a little offended.

"No, but you need to go home."

"I know" I sigh. I didn't want to leave him but I had to go back to school tomorrow.

"I think Luke's coming to play on the PlayStation later on, I'll be fine." He explains.

"Alright, as long as you text me."

"Quit your worrying I'm fine. Now come here." He opens up his arms and I go to hug him goodbye. He was warm as usual and he had had a shower at the hospital awkwardly before he had left.

I finally trot down the stairs and head towards my car, flipping off the lock. I pull up at my house and my parents were both together for a change. They had cooked dinner and it looked great. I went and sat down at the table.

"So is Nick okay?" My dad asks as he sips on the beverage he had.

"He's good. I think. He's at home now, finally" I breath a sigh of relief.

"You know, if that boy ever needs anything we'll be there for him." My mom says as she takes more salad from a bowl and puts it on her plate. Maybe she feels too much sympathy for him, the fact he doesn't know his parents as well as I know mine.

"I know mom, he knows that as well." I say before putting some food into my mouth.

"But you're going to school tomorrow, especially if he's at home. You can't afford to miss anymore." My dad explains. I roll my eyes. When will he tell me information I don't already know?

"I know, I know and I will."

"Just don't spend too long with him, you need to concentrate on your grades. I don't want you to have to put them up for adoption because you can't raise them right." My dad laughs at his own joke. My mom just sighs.

"Ed you stopped being able to tell good jokes about 20 years ago" my mom says to my dad.

"I know but I can try" he shrugs and digs back into his meal.

After dinner I go into my room and switch on a movie. It was the best thing I could do. I found myself nearly falling asleep the entire time so I thought it would be better if I actually did go to bed. I got dressed and laid inside the blankets and the mattress. Like a sandwich.

I think about Nick and I wonder if he got to bed alright. I thought about going to see him after school everyday and hang out with him then. He would only be in there for a week, he also had rehabilitation everyday which Pete took him to during the day. After this week of him lazing in bed he would be wobbling around on crutches but inside school. It would be a pain and he'd need a lot of help.

I didn't mind. As long as he was going to be okay, that's all that mattered to me.
