Eshaan arrived for the conference with a contented smile on his face. Nothing much happened last night, yet the night's events gave rise to a newfound hope in his heart. He could see that his idea of bringing her along on this outing was finally taking its desired effect. Meera did like him and maybe if he allowed himself to be bold enough, he could also sense a streak of love for him in her actions. As he fought with keeping his grin and blush in control during the meeting, his friends looked upon him with pity.
Having heard the plan, Meera had discussed with her friend last night and the love-struck look on Eshaan's face; Aditi adding two and two together knew that Meera was successful in implementing her plan and in Aditi's perception this was not a good sign. Aditi was going to intervene and tell Eshaan the truth behind Meera's advances. Aditi is not evil and does not want to break her friend's heart, but she knows that a relationship based on unexpressed feelings seldom flourishes. Convinced that Meera and Eshaan shared a flawed relation, she steels herself to confront her friend and reveal to him, information that she was not supposed to overhear, in the first place.
The meeting gets over by 4 in the afternoon and Eshaan is both elated and eager to get back to Meera. Just as he is about to leave, Anish and Aditi request him to join them for coffee, stating they have something important to tell him. The seriousness of their expressions made him shudder. His heart implores him to leave, but his mind is curious and he decides to stay.
Once settled with their coffees in the office cafeteria, Aditi cuts to the chase and asks Eshaan directly if something happened between him and Meera, last night.
Although Eshaan is taken aback by the suddenness and brazenness of the query, he smiles in reply, nevertheless. After all, this was Aditi, she was never the one to play games or beat around the bush. Unlike Meera, who was a pro in dropping hints and reading between the lines. He mentally facepalmed for not better concealing his happiness; of course, his friends would notice the bounce in his steps. what made him uneasy was the tone in which this question was asked, there was no mirth or tease, as one would expect from close friends rather it felt as if he was being interrogated for a drink & drive case.
Eshaan is quiet and waits for his friends to continue. Aditi asks him further if Meera made a move on him with a steely expression. When Eshaan does not answer and instead his face hardens in response, Anish rushes to Aditi's aid and explains why they asked. Anish didn't know Eshaan as closely as Aditi did, yet being her fiancé and an unwilling witness to last night's events, he feels entitled to present his judgment.
"Eshaan, buddy, don't take us wrong but you should know what we overheard before we brought Meera home. It's not like we were inclined to pass any judgment on Meera for it, in fact if it was as straight forward as it sounds we would have teased you to bits. Par yaar waha scene kuch aur hii tha!"
"Meera doesn't love you, she is merely attracted to you physically." Aditi pips in, in an assertive tone. She then proceeds to give him word to word account of Meera's conversation with her friend, including her own interpretations in the narrative.
The final outcome is that, that Eshaan's jubilant mood is now lost and replaced with a completely reverse perspective of whatever transpired between him and Meera.
It broke his heart that Meera was merely lusting after him and never had any true feelings for him. and here he was building air castles about a happily ever after.
