JUNG WHEEIN

Wheein sat inside the restaurant Jihoon and her frequented. She looked around and the usually warm atmosphere failed to comfort her now. It only reminded her of how happy their relationship looked in the beginning and how it consequently changed throughout the years.

She sighed. The restaurant's wind chimes rang when the door opened.

"Yeah, I need a copy of those papers today. No, I can't give you until tomorrow. I need them today." Jihoon talks on his phone loudly. A lot of the customers looked at him with annoyance and he bowed a few times in apology. He lowered his voice but still he looked stressed and annoyed. "Look, I'm also working with a deadline here." He scans the surroundings for Wheein. His eyes slightly brightened when he spots her in the usual spot. "I need that papers today." he said sternly as he says his goodbye and drops the call.

He walked towards Wheein's direction. He dips down his head to give her a kiss on the forehead but Wheein dodges the approach.

"Someone's cranky." He teased Wheein. "Have you ordered, baby?"

"No, I wanted—"

"What? Why?" he sighed harshly. "I have a lot of things to do today, and I only squeezed you in for—"

"Oh, wow." She cuts Jihoon off this time. She chuckled sarcastically. "Thank you for squeezing me in your precious schedule, Jihoon." She says.

Her eyes started to water from frustration and anxiety. She should've come with Hyejin. She can't do this alone.

She closed her eyes tightly and breathe deeply through her nose, and exhaled with her mouth. I can do this. I braved the harsh streets of Seoul for my dream. I'm just breaking up with a guy.

"Wheein." She hears Jihoon call her name. "Is there a problem?"

He must have picked up on something when Wheein didn't even try to look at him. Usually when they were meeting up, Wheein would always try to get the conversation going with her bubbly personality. She would always ask about how Jihoon's day went, how work had been stressing him over, or just hold his hand, and kiss him. But today was different. Wheein was very distant with him.

Wheein opened her eyes and looked at the man in front of him. He had grown his hair to a length that surely bothered him, but the stubbles in his chin told Wheein that he had little time to worry about his appearance. His eyes, and cheeks looked hollow. Bags under his eyes deep and dark. He looked utterly stressed and Wheein almost backed out of the whole thing.

But she looks around the restaurant once more and sees couples. Some looked like they were only at the beginning of the relationship. Others seemed to have been together for a long time, married or not, and came with their kids. Then, she saw an old couple. Both still has that sparkle in their eyes when they looked at the other sneakily. She sees as the elder man held his hand out to wipe off something from the elder woman's face tenderly, and kiss her cheeks in the process. Her heart ached as she witnessed a beautiful scene.
