Chapter 13: Wretched Truth of Past

Takashi...

My sight was spinning stupidly the moment I woke up. I never had the chance to make my mind function well. All I knew was the immediacy to find answers for the words left unexplained to me. My Lolo's name kept on playing in my mind as I hurried downstairs. I heard familiar voices coming from the living room. They only stopped when my loud and heavy steps caught their attentions.

My mouth was left half-open when I saw Lolo Takashi sitting on the sofa beside Seika, in front of Mama. I noticed that they were only the ones that were there. I searched for Lola Kaori but there was no any trace of her. Where is she? Did she leave already?

Mama stood alarmingly and planned to support me in walking but I gestured her to stop. Lumapit ako kay Lolo at nagmano. Damang-dama ko ang panlalamig ng kamay niya. I sat at the single sofa opposite of Mama's and adjacent to the long one where Lolo and Seika were sitting. I looked at Lolo and anxiety was very evident on his eyes. I could sense that he was trying to look brave but it was not turning out like that.

Tumikhim ako at isa-isa silang tinapunan ng tingin. Seika was very quiet and I couldn't read her emotion. Mama's face was full of worry and pain. We were very tensed, silently exchanging stares at each other. I don't know what to ask first. The scene earlier flashbacked to my mind and it gave me chills.

"Mama is upstairs..."

"She isn't feeling well..." Natseika added.

"Can you start explaining about what really happened? I don't get it at all. It was very confusing..." I said without emotion, trying to calm my inner self. There are lots of questions lingering on my mind. Hindi ko malaman kung paano ko uumpisahan.

"The dreamcatcher you've bought and been wearing since last year was originally in your Lola's possession," Mama began. I could hear bitterness and sorrow in every word she said. It was like she's struggling to explain it.

"Then iyong suot ni Haru na nabili niya lang din noong nakaraan ay sa kaniyang Lola Ayame. Probably, you two bought it where it was returned..." Mama continued.

I was left a bit shocked and even though I already understood what she said, I just couldn't believe the coincidence.
