The next morning, all students and staff were getting ready for Xavier's memorial service. I'd just finished my hair and was putting on my dress. "Gab, come on love. You're speaking at this." I threw a dress in her direction and took off my pajamas, sliding on my bra and undergarments. "Gabrielle Xavier! Come on! You have 20 minutes before I drag you outside myself!"
I exited the room, shutting the door and taking a deep breath. I leaned against the door frame, shutting my eyes and trying to control my breathing. I hated speaking in front of people. It was my biggest fear. "You look absolutely gorgeous." I rose an eyebrow, turning to the sound of the voice and seeing Logan staring at me with his arms crossed. "I'm telling the truth! Don't kill me!"
"Aren't you going to Xaviers service?" I whispered, smirking. He nodded, letting me loop arms with him as he led me to the outside of the mansion. "There's Storm. I'll see you later." He nodded simply, backing up as I walked up and stood next to Storm. I haven't seen a grave this big in a while.I went outside, my eyes gazing over the students sitting in rows of chairs. The sun was shining bright, the soft blowing wind smelling of honey suckle. "Hello guys." I waved, forcing a smile. "I'm Evangeline. I'm a class 5 mutant with the ability to kill without touch, see into people past, and control minds full force. Um," I glanced at Charles grave, biting back tears. "I first met Charles Xavier the same time I met his daughter. My father was never there for me whenever I needed him, so I always thought of him as my dad."
"We all did." A student called.
"I always came here with Gabrielle when I was younger. I met my aunt Storm who we all know and love, a man named Victor Creed," The professors all stiffened, including Logan. "And Charles. I will never forget the man who changed me into the woman I am today. Thank you Charles Xavier." I nodded simply, knowing my head before a cheer erupted from the crowd along with a loud applause.
Gabrielle stepped up next as I went back inside the mansion and into the kitchen. I'd made a tray of brownies for the students last night to see if it'd cheer them up. I was pulling them out whenever I was slammed against the wall. "You met Victor?" Logan hissed.
"Yeah, why? Plus, I haven't seen him since Logan. Calm yourself." I snapped. I could see the tups of metal coming from Logans hands. "Logan-" Before I could blink, his lips crashed onto mine. I, for some reason, let out a shrill squeak. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I smiled. "I hate you so much." I whispered against his lips.
"No you don't." Releasing me, I waved my hand and al the shattered glass magically made its way into the garbage can. Logan pulled a beer from a drawer in the fridge and opened it, smirking. "Listen Ev, at some point we're going to have to fight Magneto and his gang."
Did I mention how much I love his voice?
"What's your point Logan?" I asked, trying not to run my fingers over my lips. It'd been years since I'd kissed someone.
"I don't want you there." Cocking my head, I rose an eyebrow.
"Why?"
"It's dangerous."
"Logan, I'm the only class 5 on this side. Magneto took Jean. You'll need me." He stared at me blankly, his deep colored eyes flashing with concern. That's when everything clicked. Did he care about me?
****
I didn't sleep that night. I couldn't stop thinking about Xavier. "I know you.... I walked with you once upon a dream.." I hummed softly, running my fingers through my wavy hair. When I got to the farthest wing, I was walking past a door whenever I heard painful moaning. "Logan?" I slightly opened the door, stepping inside the dark room. "Logan..."
For as long as I've been told about him, I was told he never slept. He had an awful past and it kept him from sleeping. But when he did sleep, he had horrendous nightmares. In his bed, he was tossing and turning. Not to mention sweating like crazy from anxiety. "JEAN!" He roared, shooting up and angrily growling. I frowned as he pulled at his hair. His gaze slowly made its way to where I was standing. "Ev?"
"Hey Logan. Are you alright?" He shook his head, burrowing under the covers. "What do you need bud?"
"Sleep. Will you say inside with me tonight?" Nodding I slid off my slippers and looked at my phone. One text from Gab<3.
Gab<3: Where are you? I woke up and you weren't in bed. :(Me: Logan's room. He had a really bad nightmare and wants me to stay with him. :\
I curled up next to Logan, smiling as his arm wrapped around my waist. He buried his nose in my neck, breathing deeply.
Gab<3: Please, to save me from any nieces or nephews, use a condom.
Smirking, I shut off my phone and bit my lip to keep myself from laughing hysterically. She's such an idiot. "Goodnight Logan." He pressed a small kiss to my neck and fell asleep almost immediately.
Even though Logan didn't want me in this fight, I still participated in it. There were six or so of us lined up in a defensive position in front of the facility. Logan, mad I was even here, had me in front. "Kill everyone else. Leave the Class 5," Gabrielle translated, her cold stare fixed on the telepath up the hill. "GREAT! Last living bloodline of the Xavier family and I'm going to get killed!"
"SHUT UP GAB!" I yelled, grinning as a wave of Magnetos army fell dead from a simple gesture I did with my hands. "Logan! Launch me!" He looked at me skeptically before taking a running start and launching me into the air. Magneto watched in amazement as I made 2 fists and 6 waves of his men were down just like that. I fell back on the ground, drained but continuing to fight.
Someone hit me really hard in the back of the head. I stumbled, crying out as I fell on the ground. "Night night Remnant." A familiar voice whispered in my ear. I couldn't place it. Someone I was close to.
I then passed out on the ground.
Logan's POV
"Evangeline!" Pulling the unconscious pale girl into my arms, I turned around and began walking forward to confront the Phoenix. She was causing my skin to want to peel off. Yes. I said PEEL. I threw Evangeline over my shoulder, staring at the thing that had once been the woman I loved. This was going to kill me.
"KILL ME!" Jean/Phoenix exclaimed. Releasing my claws, I looked deeply into her eyes.
"I love you." I said, wincing as my claws pierced fresh and a glass heart shattered. From behind me, I heard someone call Evangelines name. That little sneaky thing had crawled off of me and laid on the ground. Gabrielle came jogging up, a long lightning strikes cut on the side of her face. That's an awesome scar.
"Ev, wake up." Gabrielle said, slapping her cheeks gently. "Evangeline Blaire!" I held Jeans body close, crying softly so no one would hear me. Ev slowly awoke, her usual gorgeous eyes a bit darker then usual.
"Gab," she whined. "Everything hurts." Gabrielle rolled her eyes, smirking and lending her a hand. "I'm so tired." She wrapped an arm around her best friends waist, her eyes locking with me.
"Back to school Log?"
