Logan flipped out whenever we got back to our room that night. As soon as I shut the door behind him, he ripped off his tanktop and jacket and threw them on the bedside chair. "You're letting VICTORS GIRLFRIEND stay here?" He asked, turning to me. I walked forward, laying my hands on his cheeks. He looked bothered.
"Log," I whispered. "First off, she's a runaway. My mother beat her. Secondly, she's my sister. Please calm down." He laid his forehead against mine, inhaling deeply. I ran my fingers over the veins in his arms, enjoying the comfortable silence. "I was wrong."
"About what?"
"Falling in love with you was the best decision I've ever made." Grinning, I inhaled as he leaned in and connected our lips together for a sweet and passionate kiss. I laid my hands on his chest, feeling the hard beating of his heart from his skin. I tilted my head to the side a bit, my hands running up his chest and laying on his cheeks. His hands slowly fell to my hips and played with my shorts, snapping the elastic. We kissed so sweetly, he literally made my knees go weak. "I love you Logan."
"I love you to Evangeline." He whispered. "Now come on, let's go find these mutants." I laid my head on his chest for a moment, soaking in the sunlight. "It's still early. We don't have to do anything yet."
I twirled around towards my suitcase where I pulled out a new outfit. "Oh no, I'm taking a shower. Then we can converse about what we're going to do." He rose an eyebrow and I grinned, laughing and clutching my sides. "Oh, it hurts!"
"Can I join?"
"Um, no. Sorry." I blew him a kiss, shutting the bathroom door and entering the shower.***
While I was in the shower, I couldn't stop thinking about Bliss. My mom. My job I left back in Maine. Xavier. Man, I missed him so much. At night whenever I was alone I would read through his journals and look at old photos of him whenever he was younger, when him and Magneto were good friends. I have never missed anyone more.
That morning, around 9:30, I was sitting in Logans room scrolling through my phone whenever a knock was heard at the door. "Come in!" I looked up, thinking it was Logan. I was wrong, because my sister walked through the door. "Hey babe, how're you doing?" She looked up at me, her eyes red and puffy. She was clutching her arm. "Bliss-"
Sitting down across from me, she removed her arm to reveal six long streaks of red on her arms. Claws. "Logan and Victor-" She choked out, sobbing. I concentrated, laying my hands on her bloody cuts. I never knew if I had a healing factor. It was always a possibility. "They met outside and I tried to stop them... Victor slashed me and so did Logan. Said he hated me and that had I not come here Victor wouldn't be killing and trying to get more students."
I felt angry tears roll down my cheeks as I grabbed the first aid kit. "Logan slashed you?" I hissed, pouring a bit of peroxide onto a cloth. Oh, I'm going to kill him. "He's dead."
She chuckled, hissing and whipping out her wings on reflex as her cuts fizzed. "I'm fine. Just bandage them and let's go eat." I grabbed the gauze, taking a deep breath. Unrolling it, I began wrapping it around her cuts. If he did this to her, what would he do to me whenever I crossed the line? Step one of making me hate you, hurt someone I love. I finished wrapping my sisters bandages and slid on my sandals. "Ev, listen. Every mutant has their days where they make a mistake. Don't bug him to badly."
I completely ignored her, storming out of my room and into the hallway. Most of the students were in class, the teachers accompanying them. Which meant the only ones in the hall were anyone not teaching today and cleaning staff. Standing in the middle of the hallway, I began singing to keep myself from hyperventilating.
{When you read this part, it'd be a good idea to put on Echo by Jason Walker while reading. It fits this scene.}
I felt like my world was spinning. I was losing everything. My past kept coming back to haunt me, my father in his evil glory with that stupid beer bottle and that grin, forcing me to sleep with any man he could get his hands on. All those nights of endless torture... My siblings having to go through equally as bad things. Had it not been for my mother, I would've never been a mutant. I wouldn't have made an amazing sister, met the love of my life, or made a father figure like Charles Xavier.
All it did was hurt me, these stupid powers. I fall in love to easily, because I'm looking for a man to love me for who I AM. And I've found him... but if he hurts my family I don't think I can trust said man. Everything bad always happens to me. The broken little girl looking for a home, for a daddy or for someone to just LOVE HER. I want my fantasy to come true. I want to be loved. I want that Prince Charming who treats me like his princess, one who doesn't hurt me and one who cares.
Caring is such a funny word.
Looking up, I saw Logan standing a few feet in front of me. "Evangeline, what's wrong?" Logan called. Bliss walked out behind me, shaking her head. "You, get."
"Um, no. She's my sister, and if I were you I would stay away for a moment." Logan took a step closer, love flashing through his eyes. But those eyes, they shifted into my worst nightmares.
Jace, the man who gave me my powers.
My father, the man who hated me and beat me for my mother divorcing him.
My mother, the demon who had been haunting me for years.
And Jaxon, the man who had gotten me pregnant at 18 and then killed my baby.
I screamed, such a pained scream that it hurt to hear. Logan watched in agony as I pointed at him, screaming. "You, get away from me!" I cried out, scrambling backward. "All I ever wanted was for someone to love me! You killed my baby Jaxon! You got me pregnant because you thought I was PRETTY," I mused, spitting at Logans feet. He looked extremely confused. "Then right before my 19th birthday, I told you your baby was a mutant, and YOU KILLED MY BABY."
"Ev-" Bliss started, putting her hands on my shoulders. I pushed her aside, staying on the floor and rocking back and forth to calm myself.
"And then there's Logan," I whispered, locking eyes with him. Mind you, I was in the middle of PTSD and I really did think he was all the people that'd been haunting me for the past 10-15 years. "Man, I have never loved anyone more. But you can't go and slash my sister because she's dating your brother, he's such an idiot. I'm so afraid of what he'll say when I tell him about me, my past, my story. I hate my life, I want it to end, I want Charles back!" I shrieked, angry tears rolling down my cheeks. "I WANT A HAPPY ENDING!"
Logan stood there in shock as Gabrielle came running down the hall. She had her hair in a messy braid and she looked like she'd just gotten out of a class. "Oh my goodness, Ev." She whispered, wrapping her arm around my waist and leading me down the hall back into the room I'd stayed at when I first got here. "Evangeline, you never told me any of that.."
"Gab-" I sobbed, choking on my words. "I love Logan with all my heart, but I want to be able to trust him with my family. I can see myself spending the rest of my life with him! But he did what I told him not to do, because I knew I was going to get hurt. I knew it. I knew he wouldn't be there when I needed him." She teared up, wrapping her arms around me as I sobbed harder and harder into her shoulder.
Logan's POV
"Bliss," I snapped. The young teenage girl looked towards me, her eyebrow raised. "I know I haven't been the nicest to you lately, but I need to know what's wrong with Evangeline. That's the first time I've seen her like that." She motioned for me to come with her, leading me through a bunch of halls until we came to a garden outside.
"When we were younger Logan, my mother left us for her science," She started, stretching out her wings and letting air fly through her feathers.
"My dad always blamed all three of his children for my mom leaving. He always took it out on Evangeline for some reason. I still don;t know why," She said softly. "When my mom left, I was 8. Ev was 11, and Jaxon was 12." She locked eyes with me, her ocean blue eyes filling with tears. "Evangeline was made to date countless friends of my fathers. When she was 13, my dads current choice had sex with her. She was forced to, basically. After #5, she started falling in love with each boyfriend she had. And when each left her, she broke more and more, and then came JAxon."
"I thought your brothers name was Jaxon."
"This guys name was Jaxon too. He was my dads best friend, so whenever my brother was born my dad had my mom name him after his best friend. Anyways, they did it. And this time, she got pregnant. Jaxon found out she was a mutant, and killed her baby. She was 2 1/2 months along. After that, she was never the same. She'd cry for hours on end in her room. One night, whenever she was in a deep enough sleep, I snuck into her room and stole her phone."
I rose an eyebrow, watching as her wings slid back into their original position. "Why did you steal her phone?"
"I went to my room and called Xavier."
"What'd he say?"
"I will never forget that conversation," She smiled softly to herself, chuckling. "That night I sat on my bed crying, Charles voice talking softly in my ear. He told me to calm down and tell him what happened and when I did, he told me to go to sleep and tomorrow he'd send Gabrielle to retrieve Evangeline."
"Did she go?" Bliss nodded, wincing from her injuries as she leaned back on the stone fountain.
"The next morning when I woke up, she was gone." She whispered. "My brother was 19 at the time, so he left too. My mom came back, fought with my dad and won that custody battle. I was taken to the lab, and I've been there since. And to answer your question, Victor and I started dating a little over two months ago. It wasn't my choice."
"I'm really sorry Bliss," I whispered. "Had I known your story, I wouldn't have been so crappy towards you." She forced a smile, running a weary hand through her pixie cut hair.
Logan, she's asleep. I have a class to teach so I need you here to watch Evangeline.
I pressed a hand to Bliss's shoulder, and a kiss to her forehead. {AN: If you haven't noticed yet, Logan is a bit OC. I don't curse so that's a part of the reason why.} "You can go, Log (L-oh-g). I need time alone anyway." I nodded, making my way back inside the school to Charles room. Gabrielle leaned against the door, frowning. She looked ticked.
"You know," She started, filing her newly manicured nails as she leaned against the door. "There are some days where I'd love to beat your pretty little face in. But of course, I can't. You're dating my best friend. Consider yourself lucky." Opening the door, she motioned me inside. "Be there for her."
Walking inside the room, I immediately regretted what I did. Evangeline was sleeping, her lips red and her cheeks were tear stained. "I'm sorry Ev. I didn't mean to hurt you. Now I know your whole story, and I'm so sorry for everything. I love you." This girl, even though I haven't known her forever, has completely turned me around. I don't know how she managed to do it. I laced my fingers with hers, stroking my thumb over her hand as I stared out the window.
About ten minutes after, she started to toss and turn. "Go away," she hissed, her nails digging into the mattress. "Jaxon, get out of here. No mum! Don't hurt me!" Sweat started beading down her beautiful face and I watched intently. "Mum, dad, LEAVE BLISS ALONE!" She shot upscreaming, tears falling from her eyes as they changed to an everest green. Since when do her eyes change color? "L-Logan?"
"Hey babe, I'm so sorry. Bliss told me everything, and I'm so sorry. Please forgive me." She fiddled with her hands, looking down at the sheets.
"Hold me. Please." She whispered. I immediately crawled into the bed, pulling her body to mine. I wrapped my arms around her tightly, burying my nose in her hair. "Don't leave me Logan. I can't have someone else I fall in love with leave me. Please." She begged, sobbing into my chest while gripping my shirt tightly. "I love you, I want you, I need you. Don't go."
"I'm not going anywhere Ev, I promise."
