Falling Apart

I’m standing here; swallowing my pride;

Practically handing you my dignity.

You don’t have to pull each string; each thread;

My heart’s already in pieces; laying in front of me.

Shatter the ice that keeps us apart;

We cut our fragile skin on each sharp edge.

Is it worth the pain and regret we may feel;

Or do we take the risk; jumping from the ledge?

You are carving out each defined detail;

With your practiced hand; and perfect measure;

Your marble statues of what once was; and what will be;

Has been part of our heavenly treasure.
