Chapter 34. Leila's parents?

A lengthy wide dirt road trailed into an old oak-wood gate that seemed to be almost completely worn down. It was the only entrance to the small village of Solara that was surrounded by a barrage of wooden logs tied up standing vertically acting as a wall.

At the entrance, a pair of girls and a boy appeared. They were dressed very simply yet elegantly. Their clothes did not resemble nobility but something quite impressive.

Seeing a village again, Aurora was suddenly hit with a small wave

Upon arrival, Leila volunteered to take them to her parents' place and took them around the village to a quiet and empty street. As they walked, they caught the stares of many villagers as they all seemed to recognize Leila.

Leila took them around for a minute and then she seemed to stop right in front of a small plot of land. There was a house in that small area, but what struck out was that the house looked like it had been struck by a huge explosion. However, the other houses around it were not destroyed, there was not even a hint of damage to them.

Tears welled up in Leila as she felt her legs grow weak and fell to her knees. She started shaking in sadness as she cried in complete sorrow.

Lex and Aurora were also affected by this scene. Lex had heard from his brother about what happened to their parents so he felt quite pitiful for Leila. Meanwhile, Aurora's thoughts were all full of anger. She herself experienced the destruction of an innocent village first hand and knew about the emotions that Leila would be going through right now all too well.

She decided to leave Leila alone right now and walked forward to examine the house. And upon searching around the house, she did not find any bodies around. Along with that, judging from the energy that was lingering around, she could tell that the damage had been done about a day ago. Judging from the damage, she could also tell that it was done by a condensing realm cultivator. This meant that it must have been at least a sect elder that personally acted.

"Look who decided to come back," a voice sounded as a young man about twenty years of age appeared from the other end of the street. He was wearing tattered clothes and had dirty black hair that had specks of mud on it.

The young man walked forward and stopped in front of Leila who was still crying, he took a glance at Aurora and Lex and coldly spoke to Leila, "Just because you got some backing doesn't mean that you are still protected. The Golden Wrath Sect offered us a prize of five silver coins to bring you to them you know. Look around you... All this happened because of you. If you had just gone with them then they wouldn't have attacked the village. You might not have realized it but they attacked the village elder because of you. My father is currently very gravely injured and is a foot into death's door."

Hearing this, Leila's crying suddenly got louder and more remorseful and she started screaming in regret, "Why!? Why didn't I just go with them? If I had just gone with them, then mom and dad and the village elder wouldn't have gotten hurt. I'm so sorry, uncle Clyde. Please forgive me."

"Shut up! Just shut up! If it weren't for you, my dad wouldn't have his life gravely injured, now we are going to take you back to the sect and take the money prize to pay for my father's medicine," the man shouted at her as he approached to grab her.

Just as he was about to grab her hand, Lex had blocked him by grabbing Leila and putting her behind him.

"What are you doing? Do you know who you are offending?" The man immediately spoke out in confusion and fear as he tried to yank his arm free but to no avail, his arm would not budge. This shocked him as the person who had grabbed his arm was a kid around the age of ten. Immediately at this instant, he knew these people were not to be messed with. "L-Le-let me go," he spoke in fear.

"I found no remains of bodies in the house and in the village. Where are her parents?" Aurora's cold voice asked out from an awkward silence. Her voice was extremely cold and contained her unrestrained killing intent that she received from her destruction of the Aranea sect and the lives of the sect disciples that she took from that attack.

Clyde was shaking from fear and the pressure of Aurora's murderous intent. He spoke without a shade of deception, "They- we-were taken by the members of the sect in case Leila returned. So-So that she would still end up in their possession."

"Wh-what? M-My pa-pa-parents are still alive?" Leila suddenly asked out as she suddenly gained hope.

"I don't know! Th-They were taken by the sect members s-so I don't know what happened to th-them," Clyde said shakily.

"Hmph. I see. Ok, point us in the direction of the sect. We are going to pay them a visit," spoke Aurora.

Clyde could not believe his ears, 'my goodness, what did I just hear? Did she really just say that? Just these three?'

"Ahem. Indeed madam. It's about two thousand kilometers in that direction," spoke Clyde as he pointed westwards.

"Thank you," replied Aurora as her aura changed and she gave him a warm happy smile.

, "Here, this should be enough to pay for your father's medicine and to fix the damages that the sect caused."

Aurora pulled out a pouch containing fifty silver coins and handed it to Clyde.

"Lex, Leila, let's go," said Aurora as she started walking towards the direction that Clyde had pointed.

Leila simply stood up and left, running after Aurora. While Lex took his grip off Clyde's arm and left Clyde with a single message, "Don't make choices in anger. Mistakes caused by anger are hardest to fix."
