Chapter 18. Finding Reon

As Leo arrived at the scene, he was greeted by Aurora who was crying as she laid there sat on the floor and next to her was a pale lifeless body.

As he got closer he saw that all the people that they dragged out of the fire were all dead. Realizing that something was going on Leo used his heavenly eyes to inspect the bodies and found out that each body carried a dark poison aura which was impossible to dispel with Aurora's current cultivation and as stage one doctor.

Seeing Leo come this way, Aurora ran into his arms and started sobbing endlessly as she said, "I couldn't save them. They had something inside them that I couldn't get rid of."

Leo patted her head as he consoled her saying, "It's ok" while patting her head.

"Aurora, I need you to be strong and take care of Lex for a while. My mom said that dad and the others went to fight off the army. I want to go and have a look. You should go to my house. It full of rubble but there's a trapdoor and you and Lex should be able to hide in there. I should be back quickly"

Hearing Leo say this, Aurora nodded and took Lexus who was sleeping from Leo and warned Leo to be careful.

Leo nodded and sped away straight towards the scene of the explosion.

"Village Elder! Are you ok? Village Elder stay with me!" screamed Reon as he ran towards an old man who was in a crater with a sword stabbed in his abdomen.

"Agh" a mouthful of blood flew out of his mouth as he slowly got up.

"These people are too powerful. Reon! Get away from here. We stand no chance!" said the Village head as he started walking wobbly towards Reon.

"Hahahaha, you think running away will help you now? I tell you, the explosion our boss fired before had a special poison in it. And by now, the whole village should be affected by it and they should die in the next few hours or so," a voice spoke out as a hundred soldiers appeared from the trees.

"Nooo!" screamed Reon as anger filled his head and he started charging at the man who spoke out.

However, before he could land a punch, the man had used an art and attacked Reon and sent him back flying about twenty meters.

"Pathetic... If you guys had only just given us what we wanted then your village probably would not have been destroyed," said the man as he gave an evil grin looking at the village elder.

"Never. We would never allow you. We would never give you the girls from this village, they have a life as well and they are living beings. We would never force them to do what they don't want to do," responded the Village Elder as he gave him an angry look.

"Haha. What rubbish. Women are merely playthings for us. If not for caring for our needs then what purpose do they have? We, men, are able to do anything we want," said the man was he started charging up an attack, "with this attack, I shall end you."

"Go for it. I have nothing now. If I am to die today then I will take you with me," said the village elder as he prepared to self destruct.

However, before he could finish...

"Halt!" a voice rang out and a man came out dressed in armor.

"General!" the men shouted in unison as they all saluted him.

"Puny village elder, who do you think you are? You dare injure my men?" roared the general as he grabbed his sword and unsheathed it.

"I don't have any reason to live. If you guys keep going then more girls will be affected, so I will give my all in this attack," said the elder.

"Let me help you!" Reon's voice rang out as he stood next to the village elder and both started gathering energy and prepared to self destruct.

Just before the two men blew up, the general attacked them with a sword art that slashed through both of their necks.

"E-emission realm. You were...at emission realm!" said the village elder as his head fell off from his body.

"I am indeed at emission realm. Oh my, it seems like I missed one of them," spoke the general as he gave off a clumsy look while looking at the other end of the battlefield. Reon had fresh blood spewing from his neck and he began coughing continuous mouthful of blood. The slash had slashed his neck but did not cut through it so Reon had survived for a while longer.

As this scene was happening, a small silhouette of a child was rushing towards this scene. There were multiple guards placed around the explosion site so Leo had to take a stealthy approach which took made the trip take a lot longer than it was supposed to.

Suddenly, Leo felt a sudden energy wave from up ahead of an emission realm cultivator. This sudden wave gave him hope but then filled him with fear. The wave meant that there was a battle going on and that meant that his father might still be alive but then he recalled that the village only had cultivators of gathering realm. This meant that his father could possibly have been killed by that attack earlier.

Oh no. I've lost mom. I can't lose you, dad. Wait, dad. Stay alive. I'm coming...

Leo's speed soared again as he now did not hold back his speed.

And because of this a few guards spotted him and started chasing him. But with Leo's cultivation of gathering realm with a movement art. The people could not catch up to him.

But he could not lose them since his pursuers also had the same cultivation as him so he had no choice but to let them follow him as he could not afford to get into a fight right now as it would draw the attention of the emission realm cultivator.
