I read the letter. This was bigger than I'd thought.

"What's that?" asked Kat, running in and snatching the feather from me.

"Give it back Kat!" I shrieked, pulling the hood of her sweatshirt and taking the feather back.

"What's gotten into you?" she asked. She then smirked and said, "Is it that time of the month?"

"I'm just going to pretend I didn't hear that," I said, pushing her out of the way and stomping up the stairs with my wand, letter, and feather.

~3 days later~

I opened my eyes and stretched, looking at the clock. It was 4:00 A.M.

Right on schedule.

I slowly crept out of bed, trying not to wake Kat up. Looking around, I grabbed the backpack I packed last night. I opened it, double checking that everything was there.

iPhone, check.
Money, check.
Magical feather, check.
Lots of extra clothing, check.
Snacks, check.
Sneakers, check.

I zipped it back up, and threw on some clothes that were laid out from the night before. I pulled my white sweater and galaxy vans on a fast as possible. I took one last look at Kat before stepping out into the hall. I sprinted quietly to the basement, Walter following me and meowing loudly.

I cast a shrinking spell on my cauldron and shoved it into my bag, along with some rare ingredients, and 3 wands.

I went into the kitchen to wet the feather and jumped when I saw Kat leaning on the counter.

"Where you going sis?" she asked, eating a Kit Kat.

"No where... I..."

"Whatever," she said, walking back to our room.

I raised my eyebrows, surprised at how easy that had been.

I took a deep breath, wet the feather, and spun it, saying, "The Protector's Castle."

A bluish portal opened. I took one last look around and dove in.

Everything swirled around me, and I almost lost my backpack. It took at least 20 minutes, if not more, and I finally landed in a beautiful castle next to a girl with white hair. There were pictures of people on the wall, and a fireplace on the back wall.

"Whoa," I said, adjusting my backpack on my shoulder.

"Hi, I'm Tigerlily," said the girl.

"Hello. I'm Fawn," I said, holding out my hand for her to shake. We shook, and I said, "I don't suppose you know why we're here?"

"As much as you do," she said. "Oh, and Mother Goose is around here somewhere."

Mother Goose flew in from a window, fixing her lopsided glasses.

"Hello, dear!"

"Hi, Mother Goose."

"So now what?" I asked.

"We wait," said Mother Goose.

I looked at Tigerlily and she shrugged.
