The next morning Gerard woke up extra early, excited to start the day, and made himself a big breakfast. Knowing Frank was probably right outside, he sang along to the music he was playing. He had figured that it would be alright if he started becoming friends with Frank, since his parents were nowhere in sight of course, so they couldn't do anything about it.

And yet after opening up shop, he gets a surprising visitor. Gerard jumps up "Mikey? What are you doing all the way out here?" He asked him as he made his way up to the counter. After his parents gave Gerard the flower shop, they had all moved down to Florida, leaving Gerard all alone in Jersey. They promised to visit for holidays, of course, and Mikey seemed completely fine with that.

"Have you forgotten that thanksgiving is coming up? I thought you of all people would notice." He responded, and Gerard felt like an idiot for forgetting about one of the only times his family would actually be here "But anyway, I saw the tattoo parlor that opened up next door. Mom and Dad are not going to like that."

Gerard shook his head "Mikey, you have no idea. I have so much to tell you. The guy who runs the tattoo parlor is actually really nice and every day since he's been here he's been giving me a bright red rose. And I've tried to push him away because I was worried about what Mom and Dad would think and I thought they might take away the flower shop. But he's really sweet and charming and really, really handsome-not that we're, like, dating or anything-but, I just don't know what the fuck to do. You've lived with Mom and Dad for a while, do you think they would take the shop away from me?"

"Well," Mikey said hesitantly "I don't think they would take the shop away, but they would still be pretty mad about it." Gerard groaned and hid his head in his arms on the counter, frustrated with himself "But if he really is as nice and charming as you say he is, I'm sure they'll get over it?"

"I really hope so, Mikey. Maybe you can convince them, you're closer to them than I am?" Mikey stroked his head reassuringly and nodded. Then he told him how they were staying in a motel nearby and that they would have plenty of time.

After his little brother left, Gerard didn't have much to do. As usual, a few customers came in and bought some thing, but other than that it felt like the day dragged on in a slow haze until Gerard found himself counting the money he made that day. Still, there was no sign of Frank, so he decided to go over to the tattoo parlor instead.

Before he left, he made sure to grab a tulip for Frank. He wasn't the only one allowed to give the other flowers, and tulips mean 'declaration of love' so it's much more accurate for what he was going for. Gerard daintily pushed the door open and saw that Frank still had a customer. He was hunched over and holding a needle up to the mans arm, and he felt his heart rate speed up.

Gerard shouldn't have been freaking out, right? It wasn't exactly normal for someone his age to be afraid of needles. Nonetheless, he was fucking terrified right now and felt like he was on the verge of a panic attack, when Frank looked up to see him.

"Oh, hey Gerard! Sorry I couldn't-" as Frank saw the terrified look on Gerards face, he looked down at what he was staring at in his hand, and then back up to him understandingly. He then turned to his customer "I'll be right back." The stranger nodded and Frank took Gerard by the shoulders to help him walk to the back room.

The back room ended up being where Frank lived and when they got back there, he sat Gerard down on his bed in his room. Gerard was still slightly in shock and although Frank tried to calm him down, nothing he tried could. So, although he was hesitant at first, Frank kissed Gerard with a passion unlike any he had felt before.

Franks lips were soft and, in that moment, it was all Gerard could think about. It ended up working, since Gerard had calmed down, but when they pulled away he was the first one to do so "W-Where did that come from? W-Why would you do that?"

"I'm sorry, Gerard." Frank said timidly "I heard that that works for panic attacks, and I thought that I might as well give it a shot. I'm really sorry if I made you uncomfortable, I was just trying to help."

"It's fine, I get it. I'm okay now." Gerard said, and he meant every word. Then he remembered why he came here and held up the tulip "This is for you. I'm assuming you keep giving me roses because they symbolize love? Well, tulips symbolize declaration of love, so I figured it would be a more accurate representation of what you were going for."

Frank giggled and took the tulip "You do know that that technically means by giving this to me, you're declaring your love for me, right?" And as Gerards face went bright red and he tried to apologize, Frank laughed again "It's okay, you didn't do anything wrong. I was just pointing something out. But, I have to get back to work now, so maybe you can just stay back here for a while? Is that okay?"

After Gerard said that it was in fact okay, Frank walked out the door and smiled the whole way there. While Gerard looked around Franks room, he noticed all the band posters and his guitar that was leaning in the corner of his room. It felt oddly comfortable, even though he hadn't been exposed to much rock music while he was growing up.

When Frank finally came back, he had something hidden behind him "Alright, close your eyes." He told Gerard.

"Frank, if that's another flower for me I'm gonna feel guilty."

"Just close your eyes." And after a heavy sigh, Gerard finally did as he was told "Alright nooow... Open!" And when he did, Gerard was caught completely off gaurd. It was beautiful, and Gerard also felt a pang of guilt that Frank spent money on this for him. But he was even more grateful and all he could think to do was lean in and kiss Frank full on the lips.
