ashton's pov

10:27 pm.

the official time of death of luke robert hemmings.

"i am so sorry to have to tell you this son. we did all that we could, he just had too many cuts, and-"

i blocked out the doctor before i heard anything worse. i turned to luke's mom who claimed she wasn't involved, but i saw her smirk out of the corner of my eye. "YOU! YOU DID THIS. I HOPE YOU BURN IN HELL FOR THIS!" she looked scared and shocked that i yelled at her.

before she could respond, i ran. ran out of the emergency room. ran through streets, alleys, and past houses. i made it to the park luke and i had our 6 month anniversary picnic at. i went to the tree we sat under, and leaned against it."

i reached for my phone, and dialed the first person.

"hello? ash?"

"calum, he's gone. they killed him. it's my fault. i don't know what to do."

"who's dead? ashton. where are you? michael and i will come and get you."

"i can't. he was my world."

"ashton please."

"calum, can you promise me something?"

"can i make the promise when we pick you up?"

"calum, please."

"what is it?"

"don't blame yourself, this was all my fault. you were one of the best friends i could've asked for. i love you."

"ashton, please. talk to michael, i have to drive." i heard mumbling and then i heard mike.

"hey ash."

"hi mike. thank you for being there for me, and being my friend, always."

"ash, please tell us where you are."

"i love you mike. and calum, so much."

"ashton, please!"

"goodbye guys. remember us."

when i hung up, i finally broke down. why would they do that? just because he wanted to love someone. they couldn't see he was happy? that we were happy.

i picked up my phone again, and made my last call. i heard the rings until i made it to the voicemail.

"hi! this is luke! AND ASHTON! yes, and ashton. anyways, we're busy, so i'll try to call you back as soon as possible! thank youuuuu! BYE!"

i soon heard the beep, and tried to form words. "hey. i know you won't answer. b-but i just wanted to tell you, that i'm sorry. i'm s-sorry that i wasn't there, and i couldn't help. i miss you. and i am happy that i spent the last year with you. you made my heart beat, made me a better person, and always made me feel loved. i am so in love with you, and i always will be. you will always be my world and my soulmate. i love you so much, and i always will. until the moment i'm gone too. bye lukey. see you soon." i hung up, and opened up my notes in my phone.

i wrote "he said he loved me here. i'll be with him again soon. i will always love you calum, and michael. thank you guys 🖤."

i turned it off, and placed my phone right next to the tree. calum knew my password, so i knew he could open it. so i walked away from it knowing that calum would soon pick it up because he was always tracking me.

i walked. walked past my house. walked past luke's. walked past the ice cream shop where luke and i had our first date. walked past the restaurant that luke and i would go to every friday. i finally made it to the bridge.

the bridge where luke first told me he loved me. i looked over the edge into the water.

i reached into my pocket and took out my advil that i carried around for my headaches that i get sometimes. i poured out a good handful and started to take them all.

i got maybe 30 in when i started to get dizzy and feel sick. my eyes were getting blurry, and i dropped the bottle. i looked at my ring and smiled before i looked to my left and saw luke. he was standing there smiling at me. he reached to me and grabbed my hand, leaning in and kissing my forehead.

"it's okay baby, you can let go."

"you won't be mad a-, uh, at me?"

"never. you'll be with me soon, okay? i love you."

"i love you too." he kissed me and disappeared.

i slowly climbed up onto the ledge and looked down. i was about to lean forward when i was pulled backwards. i couldn't see very well, so i turned and heard michael yelling and calum crying, and loud sirens.

calum wiped his face, and held ashton in his arms.

"ashton, please. why would you take these? ashton, stay with us, okay? your gonna be okay."

the ambulance ran over and quickly put ashton in the back of the truck, calum following.

calum grabbed ashton's hand as they started driving.

"your going to be fine. i know you are. i love you too ash. always."

end.
