The bell quickly sounded, signaling the end of fourth period. A rush of anxiety and nervousness coursed through my brain. I didn't know if I would be eating lunch with my new friend or not. After she helped me find my grammar class, we compared our schedules and we had every class together except for first and second period. Her name was Sophie, and I also found out that she's interested in volleyball too. I could tell that we were going to be great friends eventually; our personalities matched perfectly. Turning the corner of the hallway, I ran into her.
"Luna! I've been looking for you! Let's eat lunch together," Sophie broadcasted as our steps trailed down the hallway.
"Let's go then," I told Sophie, chuckling. Grabbing my hand, Sophie led me toward the lunchroom. Opening the door, the aroma of warm, fresh pizza filled my nose. Walking to the end of the lunch line, I pulled out my wallet and waited. Suddenly, I noticed a tall figure standing in front of me, wearing the same pair of tan khakis and sweatshirt matched with a pair of black vans that I had seen earlier in the day. Panic raced through my mind, and I could feel myself panicking.
I silently thought to myself, "Oh please no, no, no, no, it can't be him. Not him again. I don't want to deal with hi-"
"Luna Marie, it's a pleasure of mine," Cameron's light brown eyes stared into mine, mocking me by calling me my full name.
Rolling my eyes, I looked back at him and replied, "It's just Luna."
"I know," he winked at me.
He winked at me. He. Winked. At. Me. I'm not okay. Is any girl okay when a sexy guy winks at her? No, and this is why I wanted to stay away from him. I don't need distractions right now. But...notice the past tense.
With a sly smirk, he asked, "So how is your first day going?"
"Fine, but it's been a little intimidating receiving all these nasty glares from girls that I've never said one word to before. Emphasis on the nasty."
"Well, when you're that gorgeous," he responded, pausing briefly as his darkening eyes trailed down my body, "expect the girls to be jealous."
I really am not good at flirting, like not at all. I sucked it a quick breath, my heart pounding strongly against my chest, making my head dizzy and my legs feel heavy. He left his gaze on my lips for a little too long, and I was going mentally insane, seriously.
Thankfully, before I could pass out, the lunch lady asked Cameron for the money to pay for his lunch. Giving her a 10 dollar bill, he said, "Just go ahead and add this lady's meal in," and pointed at me.
What?! This guy is insane. Sweet, but insane. And completely flattering. And amazing...and flirty...and attractive...and...
What is wrong with me? Get yourself together, Luna. Tell him thank you!"Wow, um...thank you. You really don't have to pay for my lunch, Cameron. I have money."
"No, I insist. And of course, you've gotta eat something." Cameron replied, delivering another wink right to the depths of my heart.
After my heart beat returned to normal, I started to ponder what he said in my mind.
You've got to eat something. *winks*
Did he mean what I think he did? Oh my. I am rendered speechless.
