My mother always told me that everything happens for a reason. No matter how cruel and uncalled for it appears for fate to bring about a twist in our life at the end it’s always for a good cause. I've always believed in that until my family died. I never found and will ever find a ‘good cause’ behind that gruesome turn of fate.
However, each move in my relationship with Niall appeared mysterious to me. I didn't know whether to feel happy forever or stay worried. All it gave was cynical pleasure. His return to India after a year and shifting to Paradise were still afresh in my mind because I couldn't sink them in yet.
Sunday came real fast and I found myself with dreary eyes and having a headache after no sleep whatsoever the previous night. Elation was brimming in every fiber of my body and I managed to come up with no solution to calm it down. The images of Paradise and Niall’s apartment flashed before my eyes with the events from those four months last year. I was very happy.
“Have you packed everything?” I asked as I locked my apartment.
“Ahhmm….I think so,” he mock laughed.
“I mean PACKING not stuffing things inside. Did you do that?” I laughed as I pressed the elevator button.
“For your kind information, I'm a very organized person.”
“Really?” I raised my eye-brows as I slid open the collapsible gates of the elevator to get in.
“Don’t you remember Paradise at all?”
“I do, of course,” I brought my brows together.
“When did you ever see my stuff lying here and there?” his voice sounded heavy and serious.
“Are you getting mad on me?” I bit my lower lip at this unexpected turn of situation.
“Maybe,”
“Ohhh, okay. What will be my punishment Mr. Niall Horan?” I smirked as I boarded a metro station bound bus.
He paused for a while before replying, “Let it be a surprise until you get here.”
“You wanna torture me with the sweet suspense?”
“Yes, come fast my sexy victim. I'm going out for coffee, call me when you reach, bye,” he sniffed.
“Bye,” I smiled and hung up.
I was travelling to Hotel Crestwood to help Niall shift to Paradise with his entire luggage. The prospect of helping him made me feel so very special and loved up. My system was oozing with joy and happiness.
I took the first metro of Sunday from Dum Dum at noon. Metros used to commence plying from 12.00 Pm on Sunday’s. Fortunately, I got a seat and spent the next fifteen minutes listening to all the love songs that my mobile had. On reaching Park Street, I sprinted out and hit the road immediately. No sooner did I find a cab than I hopped on inside it and instructed the driver to take me to Hotel Crestwood. I chat in messages with Niall on my way to the hotel when he kept on explaining to me why he isn’t a disorganized person. I was quite good in putting up with his banter and that not only surprised him but me also.
“How much?” I inquired as I got down the vehicle.
“60 rupees, madam,” the driver replied showing me the fare chart.
I scanned it and nodded before fetching 60 rupees from my purse and handing to him. As the cab left, I noticed a coffee shop right across the street lying beside Crestwood. I figured that Niall might be inside the café. I called him up and he picked up instantly.
