It was dark. She stood alone and that made the cold, still room much darker. Her eyes never adjusted, there wasn't a shed of light anywhere and the urge to want to be able to see where she stood nagged at her. Her legs wouldn't move, her body wouldn't allow it. The fear of what was beyond in the darkness until suddenly there it was a shed of light and her body allowed her to move, she took one step after the other until she was running, but the longer she ran the farther the light went away, then she was falling. Where she was falling to? Why was she falling? Was she going to die? Until suddenly she stopped. The world, if it even was a world. She screamed for help, but slowly, agonizingly, air started to thin and she couldn't breath. She was suffocating, she was going to die there. In that cold pitch dark world. The light she saw, started to burn her as she gasped for air, she was going to die.
Jupiter gasped and shot up from her sleep. She sat up for a moment letting her legs dangle off her bed, catching her breath. As if she had been holding it in her slumber. She clenched her chest and leaned over. Her room grew silent and her breathing grew more steady. She glanced over to the digital clock that sat on her nightstand, it read '4:39am' she sighed realizing how early it was. It was currently Saturday now, her first official day of work started at 10:00 am .
Max had them scheduled on the calendar after their day of training , and unfortunately for her Scarlett worked Wednesday, Charlotte and Harper worked Thursday and Friday Willow worked. He didn't schedule them together at all, and she felt as though he gave her Saturday just to torture her. Jupiter fell back into her bed staring up at her ceiling. The fan stood still , she wanted to get up and turn it on, her body felt as though it was on fire, but her will to stand left her and she laid there. Staring at how motionless it was. It felt like forever that she had laid there, until she decided to sit up and just stay up, her want to sleep died and there was no possible way of reviving it.
She dragged herself from her bed into her bathroom flicking the light on, she winced at the sudden light but soon adjusted to it. She stood for a moment looking at herself in the mirror. Her hair scattered in all kinds of directions, like a lion's mane. Her eyes dropped and struggled to stay open. She rubbed them a bit before she went to turn on her shower. Letting it warm up she dug in her mirror cabinet pulling out three yellow prescription bottles of medication. She opened all three taking one of each, dry. She shoved them back onto the shelf and shut the mirror back into place , the click telling her it was fully closed. She then grabbed her toothbrush and started brushing her teeth. After a few minutes the mirror gradually grew foggier , covering her reflection. She undressed and dragged herself into her shower , drawing the curtain open, then closing it behind her.
The water gradually soaked her black hair into her face. The water beating on her back, steam seeming to come off her body. She wiped her face of the water that covered her eyes and began to wash her hair and body. The sound of the water , like heavy rain, made her body feel calm, but her mind was tense. She wasn't even exactly sure why she felt like she did. Like she couldn't think properly at all, and when she did it was like she went into overdrive and keeled over. As she thought , standing there under the heavy water there was loud banging at her bathroom door. She jumped and her heart spiked at the sudden loudness of the banging.
"What?" She yelled over the sound of the shower, not sure of the answer she would get.
"JUPITER! Get the fuck out I need to shower, my bathrooms messy!!"
Jupiter sighed and covered her face in her hands.
"Mom you have your own shower in your room , this one's mine. Clean it." She yelled back over hoping, praying, that her mother would leave her alone.
It was silent for a moment making her think she had decided to go to her own bathroom until she yelled back.
"GET OUT NOW!" She yelled banging repeatedly on the door, she didn't stop. Jupiter covered her ears but she could still hear the banging. Jupiter fell to her knees, her hands remained on her ears and she leaned over pressing her forehead on the ground , the water seeming to beat even more vigorously on her now. She told herself if she just closed her eyes and covered her ears she would go away, after a few minutes she removed her hands from her ears.
Silent, she went away. That's how it went, her mother would at random, yell at her , scream and shout and then leave. Jupiter sat up on her knees in her shower and stared at the wall. There were no thoughts in her mind as she stared off but suddenly she burst into tears and buried her face into her knees as she sat there, crying.
