Chapter 5: Tense Ice

Everyone got quiet and stared at the fox siblings with sympathy. Tazer's ears were down in guilt, feeling it was his fault that his dad got turned to ice and they lost their mom. Zinti sensed her brother's guilt and placed her small paw on his hand, trying to comfort him.

Max stared at Tazer, feeling sorry for him. He knew how it felt to lose his family to Shadow Master. Tazer looked up to the others "After that, this sorceress appeared and took over the castle. The guards are under her control and all our subjects in the kingdom are in her control too" Tazer explained.

"Shadow Master is trying to rule the world with dark magic. Maybe if we defeat this sorceress, your parents and the entire kingdom will be free from the dark spell" Higgabottom suggested.

Tazer looked at the owl and back at his sister "We have an advantage. Our mom gave us the ice crystal. It gives the user power of the ice" Tazer explained, rubbing his sister's head.

Twitch scoffed "No way. That's gotta be a toy" Twitch thought cocky. Zinti glared at him and jumped off her seat. "I'm gonna make you eat your words blue gecko!" Zinti told him and shot a snowball from her paws at him. The snowball hit the chameleon in the face.

Spike took off the snowball and stared at it in wonder. "Amazing" Spike said "It's cold!" Twitch said, rubbing his cold cheek. "There's your proof Twitch" Leena told him with a hand on her hip. She looked at Zinti "Speaking of ice, could you unfreeze or melt ice too?" Leena asked curious and Zinti stared at her puzzled.

Leena led everyone to the engine which was still frozen in ice. Zinti's eyes widen and Tazer facepalmed. Zinti turned to Leena and smiled sheepishly "Sorry. I sneeze pretty hard" she explained as she walked inside. "A lot" her brother commented plainly.

"Hey! That's because your tail gets in my face! You need to control that tail!" Zinti complained to him, glaring at her brother. Tazer glared back at her annoyed "Then you should stay away from my tail!" Tazer told her back angry as everyone watch the siblings argue.

Leena rolled her eyes and got between the two foxe "Hello? My ship still needs to be unfrozen. Unfreeze my ship and then you two can argue" Leena told him sternly but Zinti's ears fell down and she looked down, fiddling with the ice crystal necklace.

"Um yeah. About that...I don't think I can unfreeze it" Zinti told her hesitantly and Leena's eyes widen in shock and....

"WHAT?!" Leena yelled so loud that it startled everyone. Tazer ran far from her to escape her yelling, his ears flat from that sudden yell. "What do you mean you can't unfreeze it?!" Leena asked alarmed. Zinti got a little nervous "ummmm I could try" she said and walked over to the engine and placed her paw on it.

The ice crystal started glowing and her paw emitted glowing blue magic that made the ice on the engine melt but only a small part of it. Leena walked over to the spot that Zinti melted and looked at the rest of engine "Ok that's one part of the engine. What about the rest?" The lioness asked.

"If you want the whole thing unfrozen, including the wing, you're gonna need my dad" Tazer told them, sitting on a chair with one leg over the other one. "Maybe one of us can use the ice crystal" Kara suggested but Tazer shook his head.

"The ice crystal can't be controled or used that easily. Only a member of royal Arctic Fox family can use it's magic" he explained to them as Max approached the fox.

"Couldn't you use the crystal?" Max asked him curious. Tazer looked down, feeling reluctant. He felt that his dad getting frozen and losing his mom was his fault. He felt using the ice crystal, he would mess up more.

Zinti walked over to her brother and put her paw on his hand. Tazer looked at his sister who looked at him serious "What happened to mom and dad wasn't your fault. You did your best. At least you got me" she told him, smiling.

Tazer smiled at his little sister, feeling better and he brought her close, rubbing their heads against eachother.

"Tazer" Max said his name and the fox prince looked at the lion. "I know you feel bad that you failed to stop Shadow Master. But together we can stop him and get your kingdom back" Max told him confident.

Tazer stood up from his seat and looked at Max suspicious and on guard. "Why do you wanna help us? A bunch of strangers that got their ship ice blasted by us?" Tazer asked him.

"Let's just say we wanna help. And it's the right thing to do" Max told him, smiling and Tazer lighten up and smiled at him a little.

"I'm still clinging to the ice blasted part" Leena showed up on Max's side with an annoyed look and her arms crossed.
